Keith Kalland is the most talented and popular traffic reporters in Atlanta. He's been ill for a few weeks but this morning he lost his battle. He was in his early fifties and had two young boys.

Michael and Keith had a signal that he would do for him every day on the local news from the helicopter. It would be a sign with his thumb that meant "Hi, Buddy!" Michael was Keith's biggest fan and kept a signed picture of him on his desk. This morning Michael looked for his "Hi, buddy" sign and wondered why someone was in for Keith since he'd been back and feeling good for weeks now.

Michael and I will miss our buddy... :(

heartache all around I am sure.......hugs to you both and to Keiths family too

Always sad to lose a good friend and co-worker, Robin. My best for Michael and you both, along with Keith's family and other friends/co-workers. He sounds like he was a very nice guy.

...such a tragic loss...at such an early age :(....my sympathies to Keith's family.....and to you and Michael.....

HUGS, to you and Michael. I am sorry for your loss.

How sad, to be ill only a few weeks and then lose the battle. :( What did he die of, Robin?
So sorry for the loss of your friend (and Michael's) and my condolences to his family. :(

That is so sad, Robin. Such a young man :(

Here is a link to the report on his death that was just released.... http://www.fox5atlanta.com/news/index.html

I've worked with Keith for 15 years. He was the heart of the traffic community and one of the NICEST guys you'd ever meet. He had a bigger than life way about him that I don't know how I'll survive around here without. I can't believe I will not see that big smile again.

I had to update my first post. All this time I thought that guy was YOUNGER than me! I wishh
My sister told me to hold off telling Michael. He's been through enough lately.

Sorry to read of your loss:( :( :( . My condolences to Michael and yourself........

I'm sorry for your loss.

Don't beat yourself up about telling Michael. He would have found out sooner or later. It's my opinion that knowing bad news right away is better than worrying about it and then finding out the bad news. He missed his buddy yesterday and would have missed him today (and tomorrow, etc). You did the right thing. {{hugs}}

Robin, I'm sorry for your loss. :(
