I just left halfway through a 2 week Disney trip: my experience.

Reminder that this starts before the closure announcement.
I was staying off site for 2 weeks plus and started my 10 day date based Canadian park hoppers with 2 kids last Friday and had used 5 days. I tapped into DHS yesterday (Thursday) at 7:20am and went to guest relations.
I got all tickets on hold indefinitely and 5 days are still good forever. I can't make fps ahead of time but they will give me any 3 per day (1 tier 1 per day). Or they could have given me $120 per ticket. They walked me out of park because they did not charge me a ticket use for the day.
Got in my car, went back to my parents RV site in Kissimmee, packed, left at 10:30am, now at rest stop by Cincinnati on way to Windsor.
My wife, who was to fly down to meet us today, cancelled her Delta flight yesterday morning too: full refund. Did not have insurance.
I feel incredibly lucky to have made the decision when I did. Could be a mass exodus of park goers and retiries real soon: roads and gas situation could be a mess. Good chance I'm wrong but still not a chance I wanted to take with my family.

Glad everything worked out for you and that Disney was very fait in their compensation. My parents are snowbirds in Ft Lauderdale and decided to leave Tuesday, almost a month early.

That is great service. Always happy to hear stories about companies doing the right thing for a customer, even when there is zero obligation to do so.

It is funny that they had to walk you out of the park though. It makes sense, but still.

Did you at least stop at Skyline for their 3-way "chili"?

Yes...I felt like it was great service. I was the only one there doing this as the announcement was made to close the parks later that day.
No, I did not stop at skyline chili; I did not want to stop at a rest station every 30 minutes the rest of the way home
