I just read on a newsletter that they have done away with the lap bar on the Tower of Terror ride. It was reported that all seats now use seatbelts.

Can anyone confirm this and what does everyone think about that? Personally, this sounds so cool! I always loved riding in the floating seat in the back. If this is true, then I won't have to ask for that seat or be disappointed if I don't get it.

Hope someone has been recently to confirm!

YES...this is true. I just came back and when I went on I was thinking,"I don't remember seatbelts last summer?" I told the ladies sitting next to me before the ride began that there weren't seatbelts before and they seemed amazed. I don't think it really harmed the enjoyment of the ride, though. I still went off my seat. I think its just there so people don't walk and stand and get hurt doing something stupid.

we were there 4/11 to 4/19 and rode TofT about 10 times during our trip. each ride was different with some cars having seat belts and some with the lap bars on a random basis....TOT4 is probably the best its ever been.

Do they still have the lap bar also? This is one ride that makes me "scream"! I love the idea of seatbelts to hold me to the seat, but I would still love to have the lap bar for something else to hold on to. Last time I went I was trying to cling to the side. I just don't feel too secure on this one!

Thanks for the info. Having the seat belts just might convince me to go on again!

Kim,
the cars that had the seatbelts; have only seatbelts; no lap bar...effectively making all seats like the old "fly away" seat that was in the back row/middle seat

I think the seatbelts are great because if you're really unsure you can pull it down really tight and not go anywhere or if you are a little adventurous, you can leave it loose and go for a really fun ride!!!

Thanks, Kevin! I think I will still give a try. I will be a little nervous not having anything to hold on to, but maybe I will feel a little more secure knowing I will stay put! I am small, so the lap bar just never came down to my knees and I had a very difficult time staying seated!

It was weird with the lapbar gone. I wondered what to do with my hands-until that first drop down! I rode 5 times and had seatbelts every time. I think it makes the ride much better!

Although we only rode the outer 2 elevators in March, they both did have seatbelts and no lapbars, and it was great! Nobody next to you pulling the lapbar down so tight on your thighs that you got bruises, and no little kids floating in the air. Riding with only the seatbelts is like riding in the extra seat in the back. Also, there is nothing to hang on to and if you are adventurous (I am) you don't have to tighten up the seatbelt to its maximum fit.

I am so glad to hear this. As a Pooh sized person always riding with my tiny little 6 year old (and under on previous trips) the lap bar didn't help her at all. I will feel much better belting her in tight - lol.
