Has anybody else heard anything about JetBlue coming to Worchester Ma to replace the DirectAir bancrupcy?
I know the tickets won't be as cheap as DirectAir but it would be nice to have a Logan alternative. :cool1:
Good Luck All,
Joe

I googled it and found some articles on the possibility - from September 2011, so not in response to DirectAir leaving. Also, the state's Director of Transportation was on Nightside with Dan Rea just a couple of weeks ago, and when either Dan or a caller asked about Worcester airport, he said nothing at all about new commercial airlines.

Today's Worcester T&G has a story that says Jet Blue is looking at Worcester but not ready to make any announcements. It also says that it is more of a priority for them to get into Providence and that they are looking into many airports, including Worcester. It would be great if Jet Blue flew out of Worcester. Let's all cross our fingers :)

It has also been on the news, with all channels covering it! 10 minutes from us and great parking...come on Jet Blue...please!!!:goodvibes

It doesn't necessarily mean they will fly to Orlando non-stop. Jet Blue came to Pittsburgh, the flights are to JFK and Boston.

JB out of either Worcester or Providence would be fantastic. I hate Logan. We fly SW almost exclusively out of PVD for the price of course but also for the ease TF Green supplies. I would love to see JB there as well. The kids would be psyched because they love the t.v.s.

Jetblue has been talking about coming to Worcester for months now. While I would love to see it happen, I'm not sure they will. If they did, I would imagine that they would start off with limited flights and destinations. I fly JB and Airtran out of Logan, and SW out of TFGreen....really enjoyed flying DirectAir out of Worcester. and would love the optionn again, especially if it were JB, but I'm not holding my breath.

If/when jetBlue does start flights in Worcester, they'll likely be using the Embrear jets. Smaller capacity, shorter range - so DebbieB is right, they'll probably be connecting flights. The other issue with Worcester is access. If you've never used that airport, you actually drive through neighborhood streets to get there; no direct highway or even numbered route access. And locals would know this - doesn't that airport have a high tendency to low visibility?

I checked mapquest, they are about 50-60 miles apart. It really doesn't make sense to offer duplicate service. I agree with kaytieeldr, it would probably be a commuter feeder into JFK. Providence is only 50-60 miles too but they could pull in people south of Providence and southern MA. DirectAir was only a part time carrier (couple days a week), I don't know if that would be Jet Blue's style.

As a Worcester resident I would be thrilled if JB came to Worcester! That being said I'm sure they would prefer Providence. An established full service airport. Worcester needs an access road and many residents do not want it. The airport is quite small with VERY limited services (food, shops etc). Unless they did short flights I would be surprised if they went in there. I normally fly out of Manchester NH as I avoid Logan as much as possible. Beautiful airport!

jetBlue's CEO tweeted a couple of days ago that they could be flying out of Providence by the end of the year!!! Great news for us.
