I just heard High Terror Alert may be wrong

I was watching Fox and Friends and they said that a detainee at Guantanemo (sp?) told authorities that a dirty bomb was to go off this week in either NY, DC or Florida (WDW?). That's why the terror alert was raised a notch. Now they say this same guy failed a polygraph test and he might have made it all up. Who knows anymore?

Iknow just about what you know - heard it on the local news this morning. I'm telling ya, my stres level went down several notches! Hope that it's true!

IMHO, I doubt that our government would have raised the terror alert level based upon a statement made by one single prisoner in Cuba.

I think, with all of the focus on our relations with Iraq and with the most recent UBL tape(s), there are probably a lot more credible reasons for us to be put on high alert.

I can't help but feel a little frustrated....like we're living the story of the little boy who cries wolf. I'm sorry to say but after so many warnings, then nothing happening, I'm beginning to take these things a little too lightly and that scares me in and of itself.

Has anyone tried anything and then been stopped? Or have all these warnings turned into nothing?

I agree with Dodie. The altert is not based solely on what some prisoner might have said. Don't forget about the increased chatter and other classified intelligence our government has. Honestly, I didn't even hear about information from a prisoner when the issued the alert in the first place. This is the first I've heard of it.

an fbi representative this morning said on the radio station we listen to that that report was innacurate.

go fox news. just like on 9/11 when they scared us all to death here by saying things like the state department and OEOB were being bombed. they never seem to care if what they report is true or not.

Plus, this is the first I've heard of FL being a target

Fox is the fish funk in the aquarium of life

I went on CNN.com to see if I could find anything. I did run across an article about two dozen men living in the US that are under survelliance by the FBI because they were believed to have trained with Al Queda. Some of these guys have supposedly talked about suicide bombings, etc so maybe there is some sort of connection there as well. I have heard over and over about the increase in chatter so I'm sure that may be one of the biggest reasons for the increase to orange.

I'm watching MSNBC right now and they have not mentioned anything about lying prisoners or lie detector tests.

FOX News Channel = National Enquirer of television news:rolleyes:

Thanks for the link Dan. I'm glad to see that they devoted part of the article to 'threat fatique' and reminded us of the plots that have been intercepted.

One intelligence official said, only slightly tongue-in-cheek, “If the American people knew what we knew, they would be sleeping in shifts.”

Okay....that's a little frightening. But I'd venture a guess that that statement could be true all the time. I'm sure there's always something going on that we as the general public are protected from. How else could we live as freely as we do?

Interesting link and the best I've seen yet. Thanks, Dan!! :)
