I just have one Disney DVC wish....

If Disney allowed DVCers to buy Florida Resident passes, well, that would be enough for me. I think that would be a great thing for us, and for Disney. That 5 year deal that they offered was really lame.

Since it doesn't seem like anyone here wants to take me up on my e-mail campaign idea, what are the exact details of this 5-year pass? Where can I get info about it?

If a group is interested in emailing DVC let me know. It just bothers me that SO MANY people will spend there time concurring each others opinions but noone wants to actually try to make a difference!

Chris

I agree, maybe a well organized e-mail campaign, snail mail campaign and phone calls would possibly get them to think about it.

While we would love to be able to get FL resident passes, our other wish is for a non-smoking DVC resort - Eagle Pines or BCV maybe????

I certainly understand that it isn't feasible to change an existing resort, as it wouldn't be ethical because they sold to smokers without this restriction. But maybe a new resort.....

I agree.

Right now we buy annual passes but as our kids grow older I foresee a day when we will stay in DVC and not visit a Disney park at all, instead spending all our time at Universal, Sea World etc. A DVC discount of some kind would certainly tice us into spending that time at the Disney parks instead. Simply allowing DVC members to use the Annual pass renewal discount the way it used to work would be a good start for me.

We purchased AP's last December for the gift AP price of $300. The only reason we bought one was because of the lower price. We certainly were not going to renew our previous ones (not with that crummy renewal change). And we were not about to pay $340 or whatever the going rate was. To get to the point, $300 is our max. Period. If they do not come out with a good deal this December (like a renewal for the gift pass at a good rate, and not from the day you renew it, but back to the old way) I can assure Disney that we will not be getting AP's after this year.

We will for sure get AP's at USF/IOA for $165 a year, which also includes some hefty discounts in the parks for food, souvenirs and free parking. Much more than Disney gives it’s guests. In addition, we really enjoy those parks (USF/IOA).

Disney needs to pay attention to what people want, and I do not feel that they care about what we want. I know that it is a business, but we also have free choice, and we will exercise it.

Oops. I was just reading a thread about all the negativity on the boards recently. I thought I would add that we are VERY glad we bought into DVC last year. I love the thought of being able to spend every Christmas season at VWL. I am not upset about the possibility of point cost increasing for staying at DC. We never planned on using our points in that manner. That being said, I hope that Disney is careful about taking away DVC flexibility.

Never heard of Gift AP's, Could you elaborate on how you got AP's for $300?

prplcrzy- I hope I didn't get your hopes up!... Last year (December) they came out with a 'gift Annual Pass' thingy. The idea was that people who held AP's were able to purchase 'gift' ones for around $300 for adults. We actually did not even have an AP at the time (our expired the prior May), but called and ordered 2 of them. A good deal. Probably the last time they will offer it!

Everyone should always feel free to contact DVC with any suggestions or concerns. However, in the past we've been asked not to use DIS to put together any type of organized effort.

The 5 year pass is for DVC only called Magical Years Pass

For 4 of the next 5 years you get 5 days per year admission to MK, AK, Epcot and MGM with ability to park hop.

A choice of two other options per year from PI, Water Parks or WWofSports.

You also get $10 off one adult admission to DQ or $5 for a child's admission. 50% off one round of mini-golf, 10% merchandise discount at the the water parks.

Cost -- $749 per adult or child.

A word of caution -- If another major park should open in the five year time frame it would most likely be an additional charge to get in.

It would be nice to see additonal discounts on park admissions...maybe we would spend more time in the parks than just using DVC as our base. We just spent 13 days in FL ...11 at DVC resorts and only visited the parks 2 days!!! We enjoy lounging by the pool etc........Maybe if they see that DVC ers aren't entering the parks as they were before then just maybe.............Dreaming huh????

rbuzzotta, I think you should let them know how you feel. I too have been thinking about cutting my park visits. They really should make it so that the guaranteed visitors can enter the parks more reasonably so that we can spend more money in them.

BTW, I'm from Wilmington and I have to ask, don't you love flying out of Logan in the cold weather and arriving in warm sunny Florida?

Well I will be the first to say I disagree-

I guess I wish I could have cheaper admissions and I wish I were a millionaire and I wish I could fly, but I don't think Disney has any reason (yet) to do this...The Florida discount is for people who are in Florida (stuck living there if you want to look at it that way) so they get a discount to encourage them to come to the parks a lot, not like 10 days or 14 days but 20 and more days every year! or every weekend, they are a captive market but one that needs to be enticed into staying in the state for vacations and encouraged to make those trips to WDW...we are not. We come to DVC to be at WDW- no reason for them to entice or encourage us (in the beginning to sell the program they did- now word of mouth is doing that-so if you want those perks back-stop telling everyone how great it is-that is hard isnt it?;)

Of course if they see that DVCer's are not generating the in park income they had hoped for -maybe they will change, but that will be hard for them to measure directly. I don't think they really can tell how much DVCer's go into the parks...

So let's wish for something more realistic-

P

I agree

I wrote to MS stating that there should be a discount on AP passes since the discounts on hotels that AP allows aren't of much use to DVC'ers (I know some people use them for weekends and such - but in general - we have our lodging paid for...), so they should figure we'll come more often with AP's, spend more at the parks, and even add more points...

I Agree!! It seems an obvious benefit should be to get a discount on annual passes.
