We have relatives of ours staying with us from out of town. They live in Florida & also love WDW, but they are also looking forward to going to the local amusement park & the Six Flags amusement park we have in our area.

Honestly, I have no desire to go to these parks. Of course, if someone said they'd put me on a plane to Disney tomorrow I'd have my bags packed & be ready to go.

Does anyone else ever feel this way? I am really not an amusement park person when it comes to anywhere else other than Disney. :p I have no desire to even visit Cedar Point or anywhere else like that. Am I not normal!!!

I feel the same way, but DisneyWorld is not an amusement park, it is way more.

Trust me, you're not alone. As a matter of fact, I have no desire of going anywhere else but WDW for vacation. That might even be worse.

i love disney, love going on the rides and all, but i dont like any other parks, six flags, hershey park and busch gardens, been to them and they dont do anything for me, once you been in disney and see what they have, you look at the other parks as 2nc or 3rd rate

WDW is one of a kind in North America and cannot be compared to anything else

IOA/USF comes close.........

Cedar Points/Six Flags/Canada's Wonderland - all good/great amusement parks but in a different class than WDW

I feel the same way - little or no interest other than WDW for this type of vacation

Thanks

I agree with everyone above!
I fell in love in WDW way back in 1972.
I can't help but compare other parks that I've tried to WDW - and they don't even come close.
Anyone can take you up 13 stories and drop you. But no one can do it like the Tower of Terror!
You all know what I mean. There are dozens of examples (probably more) where WDW does things that no one else can match.
I have no desire to go to any other kind of "amusement" park.
I've tried and come away empty.
To me WDW is worth every penny I have ever spent to go there and to stay there.
Thank you, Walt Disney, for giving us such a special place. It's too bad you didn't live long enough to see it open.

Once youve been to the best, the others just dont measure up. And I agree with Gail Hayden, WDW is so much more than an amusement park, it is so much more! Its an experience. Busch Gardens Williamsburg is our 2nd favorite and a lot closer to home but when it comes true vacation time, WDW is it for us.

I think there is no question that WDW is the best there is. And, there is also no question that it's much more than an amusement park. That might be your (and many other's) problem.

If you think of other asumement as just that - places to be amused, you might consider going. But don't kid yourself, you won't be wowed, you won't be amazed, and you certainly won't feel magical at a park other than WDW (I've never been to Disneyland so I can't comment on it - please accept my apologies if you feel similarly about DL). But go - you might like the rollercoasters or the flume rides - just don't expect all that we have come to expect from WDW.

I suppose the answer is to just take it for what it is and don't expect too much. Then just stare at your countdown day in and day out until you're actually where the magic happens. :)

I guess I'm in the minority. I like Cedar Point, Kennywood, and even did a trip to Idlewild Park and Storybook Forest this year. We'll be making our fifth trip to Disney World this summer, and cut it shorter so we could spend more time at Universal. I like Disney, but it is certainly not the only place I want to go on vacation!

I live about an hour and a half from Kennywood and Idlewild Park/Storybook Forest. I've also been to Hershey Park, Cedar Point, Busch Gardens, Six Flags, etc. I love all of these places for a "day" trip, but when it comes to a vacation, there is absolutely no comparison to a WDW vacation! Sorry to all of you DL lovers out there. It's nice, but still doesn't compare to WDW!

I agree with everyone else too, WDW is the only place I want to vacation...it has everything you could ever want!! My dh always says "there are other places in the world to go, you know" but when we get there he doesn't want to come home!!

I have the same feeling too... especially when I see the pathetic carnival setting up in the local mall parking lot with it's paint peeling ferris wheel and pony rides *shuddering* and of course the operators can be intersting characters :)

My DD9 says "Oh Mom - can we go" and I cringe.

Oh yes, I feel the same. Pretty much all of my family, the one's who don't live in Florida anyway, get annoyed with us because all of our vacations are spent at Disney World. We hardly ever go to visit anyone. I don't care to go to any Amusement park. We have a rollercoaster litterally 4 minutes from us and don't ever go on it, But put me in MGM Rockn'Roller Coaster here I come.

There is just no place else that can make you feel like all is right in the world and you can feel safe and Happy.

My DD9 says "Oh Mom - can we go" and I cringe.

Our DS almost 7 use to say the same thing, now he know better. He looks then says "I know only rides at Disney World."

Looks like we will be there at the same time we will be staying until the 24 at POR.

We're not far from Six Flags Great Adventure, but as far as I'm concerned I don't ever need to set foot in there again. It's dirty, more expensive than WDW & boring! I grew up at the Jersey Shore, and if DS, 6, and DD, 17, (DD goes to Great Adventure w/friends) want to go on rides between WDW trips, we head for the boardwalk (in NJ, not WDW). The only other park we all like is Sesame Place on a really hot day; but, that's only a day trip.

Everytime I leave, I say that I'm not going back. I just told my husband when we came back in June that I had my fill of the mouse and Florida. I was going to see the mouse on the ship. Well now the mouse and the ship is turning into an added 5 night stay at one of the resorts and of course I have to go to the parks. How Horrible!:o I don't want to go anywhere else either. I find my self even seeing fireworks and be like, Disney's was much better.

No doubt - Disney is special and there is nothing like it. But, we can only go there once every year or two (1000 miles away). So in the meantime we go other places. Do I compare them to Disney? Yes, every time we go, but I also accept them for what they are - and each one we have been to has some special things about them that you won't find at Disney. I don't think you should write off US/IOA, Hershey Park or Williamsburg, Va. because they are not Disney. Enjoy the for what they are and you will enjoy Disney even more on your next trip.

I love WDW but I also love USF...they are different but both great(and now that USF has FOTL pass...we will be going there every trip!!)
but it's weird...I used to always go to Astroworld and now I never go...we never stopped getting season passes!! and our band has gone to both Fiesta Texas and Six Flags Over Texas on band trips and they were fun but it left me desiring SOOO much more...like what I get on Disney trips! hehe!

Cedar Point can launch you from 0-120 and up 420 feet in about 10 seconds.

Six Flags can make you fly like Superman.

Hersheypark can show you how chocolate is made and has some of the best woodies in the country.

Knoebel's is probably one of the best free family amusement destinations. It is also clean and well kept.

If I want real thrills, Disney is not my #1 destination. So I ignore the gum, ignore the garbage, ignore all your "amusement park evils" and ride the rides.

I understand many people on this board are nervous about going on Space Mountain, so I recommend you stay at Disney. However, if RNRC is too lame for you, I suggest you get up some courage, trudge through the "raw sewage" of Six Flags and Cedar Point (or even Universal), and ride the world's best roller coasters.
