I just had to put my dog to sleep :(

She had a bunch of seizures over the last few months and they kept getting worse. Yesterday she had one, and after it was over she went into a coma. The veterenarians think it was a brain tumor. We decided to let her go because there really wasn't much we could have done. We could have sent her to a specialist, but it would have cost a lot of money, and she still would have had a lot of seizures.
I'll miss her, we brought her home when I was 3. Her name was Lucy.
Who would of thought that my cat would outlive her? My cat's 20.
It's just hard...

So, just so this isn't a pointless thread, have any of you ever had to put down a pet?

My sister had to put her cat down. It was the sweetest cat ever! I think it had cancer, and it was eating away the Kasper's face.

I've never had to put down a pet, but my mom had to put down a few dogs and a rabbit when she was younger. And we had to give my dog away when I was 4. Her name was Lacey. :[

My oldest dog...I'm not sure how much longer she is going to live. She's going on 13. I dread the day she dies.

I've had a dog hit by a car. Our first dog, Charlie, was put to sleep soon after we got our oldest dog Cindy. I don't remember crying...I think I was about 6.

My aunt had to put her dog (also named Lucy) to sleep on Saturday.

It hurts so much. I guess like everything it gets better with time.

I'm really, really sorry. It's hard to lose a pet.

I had to put both of my dogs down. One had cancer and the other had really bad arthritis and couldn't go up and down steps, or even get up after he layed down. It was really hard because I had them ever since I could remember.

Just remember that you dog isn't suffering anymore and she's happy and playing in heaven. Maybe my two dogs are playing with your dog!

i had to put my dog down in october.
it was terrible. he was 15 going on 16 years old.
he was fine one day, then the next he could hardly walk/breathe.
so we all said our (very very tearful) goodbyes, and my parents took him to the vet.
it was a really heartbreaking moment, i'm crying even thinking about it.
it takes alot of time, but you will get over it. i remember him all the time and i miss him alot, but i don't cry about it that much any more.
it'll get better with time. and you know that when you put a dog down its always for the best and to stop their pain. so wherever she is now i bet she's happy.

I've never had a pet put down, but i've had some fish which died. The first one that died, I was sad about. But after that, it wasn't really saddening (had them for about 2 weeks at the most, the first one we had for about 8-9 years)

I have a weird fear of my cat dying... it's a bit annoying because we have a baby next door, and when he crys, he sounds like our cat... i've woken up many times hearing the baby cry thinking it was Muffin, then rushing downstairs to find her still asleep...
