I want to cry. I went to Disney with my sister and her family last week for a quick getaway. Had a great time. This morning I logged onto facebook and found my brother-in-law had posted all the pictures from our trip. I was looking through them and came across one of his son and a very overweight woman (facing away from the camera). I was trying to figure out who it was. Yeah, it was me. I can't believe I'm that fat.:scared1: I mean, I knew I had a layer or 2 of flab, but I had no idea I looked like a ball. So now, not only do I know I look like a beached whale, it's out there for everyone to see. I'm so mortified and sad.

I'm putting that picture on the fridge.

((hugs))....and cyber high five for turning this moment into a motivator to get healthy!

I have been there and know that feeling. Good for you for using this experience as a positive motivator to improve yourself! It took me over 4 years to do it, back I am back down to my high school weight range (not bad for a guy in hid mid-40's), and if I could do it than anyone truly can do it.

I've been there before ! I just got my motivation back two years after falling off the wagon !! The important part is that you realize it and your taking steps to get healthy ! Good luck !!

Aww, I know that pain. Sorry you have to go through it!! But, when the pain wears off you will start to see it as an opportunity. Don't jump in and over do it. Just start by making small changes that you can stick with and eventually you will get to your goal. There are so many great, supportive threads here that you will get all the help that you need. Think of this as the first day of the rest of your life:)

Hang in there OP! It's fixable. You can be the healthy person you want to be. It's not fast, and it's not always easy. But it's very doable. You just have to keep swimming.

ITA w/ Aliceinwonderland--start with small changes. Educate yourself. Read as much as you can. Look at all the weight loss/ healthy living options/plans.

We are starting another BL challenge on June 3rd and we'd love to have you join us! Until then you are welcome to jump on to the BL spring thread.

You can do it!:goodvibes

I just wanted to echo Rose above!

Join us!! This is the most supportive group of people.

Lots of great ideas, a place to vent, a place to be accountable and finally...you can check in as often or as little as you wish!!! NO pressure, just support.

I joined in Jan. I lost 23 pounds and am hoping for 12 more!

It is a great group to share your wins ans struggles in all aspects of your life!!

Nancy

I think a lot of people in your position have that "moment". Whatever it is use it as motivation to improve. You can't do anything about the pat but you can make changes now for the future. Good luck.

:thumbsup2 Way to go for facing the facts and putting that picture up!! Somehow, I've learned how to avoid mirrors/cameras for the past 2-3 years when I ballooned up to my highest..my face is not overly fat, and my wrists are not over large...that's usually what I see the most! So, if my face and writsts are not large...then the rest of me must not be large, right??? AAGH!! A few photos later and I'm in the same boat as you!

But!! we can be inspired to get healthy and stay there! :) Baby steps..but claim back that fit body that will help you do all things in your life better!!! You can do it!!! :)

:flower3: weve all had those moments, dont beat yourself up, think of good things you like about yourself(your obviously kind and sensative) I have to say, I would probably ask to get the photos taken off, torturing yourself by looking at the photo might not help, good luck, you can turn it around because I did a few years ago and have kept it off(struggle every day mind you!)

hugs to you.........:grouphug:

Welcome

I remember "that moment". For me, it was getting pictures from church camp. I'm going to agree with everyone else. You don't want to go on a crash diet, or any diet for that matter. You want to develop a new healthier way of eating and exercising that you can live with for the rest of your life.

Your story brought a tear to my eye. I know your pain and it isn't easy. I am in the same boat with you. I started this week with making some changes. More to come. I need to be reading more over here than some of the other forums. Good luck to you. :flower3:

I know exactly where you're coming from. But I can tell you, you can turn it around! I did! You sound like such a wonderful person, and since you recognize you want to make a change, the hard part is over. It might not seem like it, but it is! You have a lot of support from the people on this board and we're all here to help you and prop you up :)

I was in a similar situation, and so I started a WISH journal, and it's been really good for me. I have people that are holding me accountable (well, I feel accountable to them, lol) and I make sure I keep myself on track because I don't want to let them down. You can totally take this negative you feel right now and turn it positive!! :yay:

Like several other folks that posted I too can relate to your wake-up moment. I think those of us who have struggled with weight loss issues have experienced those moments from time to time, however the key is realizing you have to change and sticking with it. Good luck with your goal. :thumbsup2
