Did you ever get a bad feeling about someone? Like something was going to happen to you?

I stopped to get gas at the 7-11 tonight. It was not really late, 7:10 or so, but it was dark. After pumping the gas I was walking around the car when a white car pulled up right next to me and the driver side window was down. There was a young guy driving, about 25 or so and he asked me what time it was. I said I didn't have my watch on, and at first I thought nothing of it. Then he said "I want a cigarette. I want to buy a cigarette off you. Come here. I want to buy a cigarette off you." I said, "I don't smoke" and I hurried into my car. He was still repeating this over and over, and my 15 yo son in the passenger seat looked over me at him, and then the guy made eye contact with my son and said, "oh, ok" and drove off.

There were lots of people there all around, but still I felt terrified for some reason. Something was off about that guy, and I felt afraid. I still feel funny when I think about it.

Just needed to vent and maybe get a DIS hug.

Usually your instincts are right. I would have been uneasy as well. Glad you're ok!!

Sending you a big Dis hug..

I was thinking maybe he thought it was a cool pick-up line...scary though, I agree..

Another hug coming your way.

Hmmm, I think you're right to feel afraid, ADG. Our instincts are so right on. If you felt scared, something was not right!! Glad you're ok.

You're right to keep your guard up and be concerned about that nut! :grouphug: :grouphug: I'm glad you are safe!

That guy sounds like trouble. Good for you for following your instincts. I had a similar situation not too long ago.

I had taken my 6 yr old dd shopping at the mall and we had some time to kill before lunch so we went to the arcade. I was playing air hockey with her when I noticed an older man come into the arcade. He walked past us twice then sat down at one of the games near us. He just sat there watching my dd. I had her switch sides with me at the air hockey table so he wouldn't be able to see her as well. He got up an moved to another spot for a better view. I grabbed my dd and we left. He never really did anything wrong but something just wasn't right. I've learned to go with my gut.

YIKES!!!!!! :scared1:

Glad you are alright. I would of been nervous too he sounded a bit too strange to me. :grouphug:

I was watching JJ Bittenbinder once and he said too often women ignore their instincts because they don't want to come across as "not nice". Our instincts are genetic and have helped us evolve to where we are.

Big hooray for you for listening to them and staying out of a potentially dangerous situation.

I had something like that once when I was walking along a boardwalk at night when I lived in England. A man was walking toward me and I didn't like him and then all of the sudden, he darted behind some beach huts and disappeared. Every alarm in my head went off and I dove thru some bushes so I could cross the street. He never did anything threatening but I still knew it was trouble.

That really IS scary. I am glad you are OK.

I wonder if he went on to find someone else? Scary thought huh?

Listen to those gut instincts! I get them from time to time.

Today we were in the "city" for a cruise to celebrate Christmas with our office. Heading back out, there were three of us, all females, at the parking garage waiting for the elevator. Some strange looking guy came over and asked if we could give him 50 cents for the phone. Just didn't have a good feeling. Geez! Can't trust anyone these days.

egads! thank goodness your son was with you. Not telling what he would have done if he wasnt' there.

Thanks everyone. I am feeling better this morning. Everything looks safer in the sunlight! :sunny:

Everyone is right about trusting their instincts. I don't get that "something is wrong" feeling very often, so I always listen to it. I hope he left everyone else alone last night.

My DH had someone ask him if he wanted to buy a surround sound system when he was pumping gas at the 7-11 last week. When he said no, the guy asked "Oh ok, I'll race you for titles then!" My DH said he just got in the car and left.

How scary... that guy had no right! I'm glad your son was with you!

I had that feeling.......I take elevators all the time at work, and usually only 3 floors or so. I got in and just as the door was closing, a guy stuck his hand in, which opened the doors so he could enter. this happens all the time, I just got this creepy feeling from this guy and the way he looked at me, I said, "Oops, forgot something," and got off the elevator. I work in a hospital, and a few min later, heard the 'code' for a security emergency on the ground floor. Turns out it was this guy, who had grabbed a woman who had gotten on the floor below me. --I agree, when you have a gut feeling, go with it. Glad everything worked out okay last night!!

Wow! Good thing you followed your insticts. I don't think I would have in that situation. Who knows what he would have done. People are just grazy!
