We decided that after our cruise in Sept. that we should at least go to WDW and spend one night(Oct. 1st) before we "have" to go home on Sunday. We have tons of plusses left on old passes, so we'll probably do a water park day and just enjoy the resort. I was trying to conserve points so I asked about BWV standard view studio and it was available! Granted it is a Sat. night, and only a one night stay, but I was still surprised that one was available at the 5 month mark. Just thought I would post about my success. I know others are always concerned about getting a room at a non-home resort, on short notice. This will be our first stay at BWV, but at least will get a taste of it, and see if we would like to ever stay there again. So far, VWL is our favorite and where we own our points. But since it's just one night, and I thought the Boardwalk would offer us some fun things to do without "the" parks.

The pool at BWV is great. Kids and adults love the slide. In the evening the Boardwalk comes alive with entertainers, jugglers, magician and the boardwalk games. You'll wish you were staying longer. Have fun.

I'm sure we will wish that we could stay longer, but the kids will already have missed a week of school for the cruise, and DH only gets one week of vacation at a time (2 weeks total). Thats okay, 7 nights on the cruise should be a pretty good trade off for the WDW stay! :)

Two weeks ago we decided to go to disney for 3 days prior to driving down south for a wedding. I called disney and pretty much had my choice of places. Since it is a short trip, we opted for a studio, so I went cheap and decided to try Old Key West. They had that available as well as SSR (our home resport). We arrive on Thursday staying through Sunday. We want to try all the resorts, and I think as long as you are flexible, I'd bet you could get a place at "almost" any time of year at any point. Of course, we are new at this and maybe we just got lucky.

Who knows, maybe we'll be neighbors at BWV that night. I have a standard studio for the Sept. 30-Oct.3rd that I booked recently. DH didn't want to go to a MNSSHP, so I thought to go with a friend.

After our DCL cruise in November, we also wanted a day at DVC and we truly loved our laid back day at the VWL. Enjoy your add on day before you have to go back to the reality of day to day life!

About a month ago we added Saturday 5/7 to our reservation in a BWV 1B Standard.

Glad to hear you were lucky, too.

Good for you!
My brother and SIL decided to come to WDW when we're on vacation..and they booked the BWV last month for the last week of August/beginning of Sept, and got a standard view, I was shocked!
She didn't even ask, it was offered by the girl from MS.

I'm just hoping this bodes well for us regarding crowds. :cool1:
