It was a great show! Very well done - lighting, special effects, costumes - Josh Strickland was insanely good as Tarzan (and he looked mighty fine in a loin cloth ;) ).

Our seats were ok - far right side of the upper mezzanine. But I don't think there were any "bad" seats. The Richard Rogers theatre is not that big, so you'd have a prime view really anywhere. I would have liked to be in the front orchestra to really see the make up and costumes better.

I will go see this again and hopefully get better seats!

Now, the "down" side.

OK. First let me say that I am ALL for family outings. Take the kids! Enjoy and have fun together - BUT, please don't take your 9 month old BABY to a Broadway show! Seriously, the family that sat in front of us had a 9 month old (at least she looked to be under 1 year) and a 2 1/2 or 3 year old son. Literally 5 minutes into the first act, the baby has a stinky diaper. Thankfully mom took her out and when she came back the baby was fussing and crying. I don't know if this mom got to see any of the show b/c she pretty much was not sitting in her seat after that. Then 10 minutes into Act 2 the toddler has a stinky diaper. This time, they allow the kid to just stay put until the smell becomes unbearable - maybe 20 minutes. Ugh! This really dampened our theatre-going experience. This family also had a cooler with snacks, drinks and lollipops complete with annoying wrapper removing noises throughout. It was quite distracting. I will be writing to the theatre manager and Disney Broadway department. It really took away some of the show for me and my DH (and the couple sitting next to us).

Now when I went to see Beauty and the Beast in March, there were families there with young children, but I didn't notice the above issues as I did at Tarzan today.

Anyway, overall we really liked the show. We had lunch at Bubba Gump's Shrimp Co. in Times Square and we did get rained on a little bit, but overall we had a great day in NYC.

We're going to see Mary Poppins in December and I can't wait for that!

Thanks for the review. Sounds very cool.
Too bad about the stinky diapers. At the theatre I used to work at babies were not permitted in the theatre. Every once in awhile I would see a patron watching the show from the monitors in the lobby when they brought a baby in.

I just started a NYC thread, too!!! We might have seen each other!!! Wasn't it fun? Sorry about your theater experience - we had a whole class of fourth-graders sitting behind us - and the moms were in front of us. I had to give an evil eye once or twice, but when the show started they were settled down and we all had a great time. Not like Radio City Music Christmas before last, when the little girl, about 3 or 4, I think, talked to her grandmother throughout the WHOLE show - so distracting!!!

Liz, what did you think of the performance of Jenn as Jane?

JohnMouse,

I thought Jenn did a great job as Jane! Her mannerisms, her accent, her voice - just superb. I think Liz saw Wicked (see other thread she started). I really enjoyed Tarzan!

Wow, lots of NYC visitors this weekend. I would loveeeee to see Tarzan on Broadway, maybe would take away some of the pain I still feel for Tarzan leaving AK. I'm still sooooo sad! Yes, I'm a lamer.

Ooops, sorry - yes, it was Wicked I saw!!!! We want to go back and do a Disney show trip - Tarzan, Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast (we did see that one two years ago, but I'd be happy to see it again!!!)

I am sad about Tarzan leaving AK, too, but the show on Broadway is a nice replacement - even if it's 1000 miles away from my favorite place (WDW)!!!
