We got back from the world a few weeks ago and I thought I'd share a little something that kinda bothered me.
Both my DH and I are disabled with a walking disability. We rented a scooter (like always) from an off-site place.
So we go to Everest Expedition and park the scooter near the entrance with some strollers. We leaned the seat down (as always to keep the sun off) and bend the steering column all the way forward (prevents people from getting stuck on it if passing by closely).
We come out and there is some lady sitting on it! She took the time to move the handle and put the seat up so she could plop her butt down. I had to ask her 2 times to please move off it. I don't get it! What makes people think they have a right to do that?
Now maybe some are thinking big deal, but what if she broke something on it? Would she pay for it? I just find this to be so rude!
Is it just me being to sensitive?

I do have to say tho we had a great trip as always and ate till we popped!

I can't believe someone would have the nerve to do that! It's not as if there aren't enough places to sit at WDW and even if I couldn't find something, I would never sit on someone's scooter. I don't get people either. Was she embarrassed, at least?

Nope, not at all. In fact she seemed a bit put out that I made her move.

Wow, I can't believe someone would do that! It's even worse that she didn't want to move off of YOUR scooter.

I'm half suprised she didn't get up and sit in one of the strollers! :rotfl:

Wouldn't that be the equivalent of letting your kid rest in someone else's stroller? :confused3 That's just plain rude!

Wow, that was incredibly ignorant of her! I am always amazed at how stupid people can be. That's almost like finding someone sitting in your car in the mall parking lot! WTH???!! Did she at least apologize?

People generally don't get that when you're mobility-impaired your wheels are part of your personal space, whether you're in them or not. If everyone had wheels they would understand why it feels invasive when someone touches or sits on their vehicle. It's just like when someone picks up your purse or goes through your wallet. Even if they don't remove anything, you feel vulnerable.

Good way to look at it! We were all amazed. Even the kids couldn't believe it and remarked about it.
And no, she didn't apologize. Seemed bothered by the fact she had to move! LOL

Maybe she was from another country and it's common behavior to sit on someone else's scooter there. Just kidding. That's bizarre.

That is so strange! What on earth made her think that she deserved to use your scooter as her bench? I would've been irritated too, so don't feel bad.

I wouldn't even understand it were a WDW rental scooter and you hadn't had the seat and handles folded, but in this case that's amazing that she had the nerve (can I say balls?) to do that. Geez! Who died and made her queen?

Crap on a cracker, I need my eyes examined! I read that as you "ate till you pooped!".

Its rude enough to sit in the scooter, but to get upset with you for wanting her to move goes far beyond rudeness.

LOL...I had to double check it after I posted to make sure I said popped and not pooped (although, with that much food....... ;) )

No you can't say balls. (Unless you're talking about mouse balls.)

I think it was rude too. I would not dream of touching any ones stroller, scooter, or anything like that.

She was probably mad at you because you didn't leave the key in it. How else was she suppose to drive it all around the park? :confused3

Did she have her kid resting in a stroller, too?

I agree with you, I just don't get some people! :rotfl2:

Rude, rude, rude! There is no other word for it. No, you are not being too sensitive.

And I gotta admit, I had to go back and reread the word that started with a "p"! :rotfl:

How rude.

Maybe she thought it was abandoned and was going to take it for a spin?

:rotfl: That was funny! Def. caught me by surprise!

OP, some just think the world is theirs, and theirs alone! What a psycho. Good job not running over her toes as you left!

That's what I thought it said, too!! :rotfl2:

Guess we should carpool to the eye doctor's, huh?? :rotfl:

Second thought, maybe we should call a cab...... :thumbsup2

To the OP - I suppose you didn't leave any snacks for her to munch on either. ;)
