I never thought I'd say that, but I'm sick of them. I made poached eggs for breakfast but they just wouldn't go down. I've made eggs every way, I even buy just whites,... Anyone else on Atkins ever feel this way? Fish, tuna and seafood are the same for me. I can't eat too much or I get a rash and itch.

I don't eat any meat or poultry and I'm doing Alex's challenge, so I'm kind of stuck on what to eat aside from my small salad and cup of spinich each day. I'm not eating any bars or sugar free goodies either ( they stall me).
Am I missing something? I've been eating a salad and drinking Atkins shakes just for something to put in my stomach.
Just looking for ideas, thanks

I can't personally help you, but my DH, mom and dad are all on Atkins and just watching them eating all this meat and eggs makes me glad I'm not on it. I give you alot of credit - it does NOT look easy. I wish you luck - it is working for my family - Dr. Atkins definitely knew what he was talking about.

Oh, and DH's blood pressure has gone down to 116/67. He used to be in the 140/100 range. Even all that cholesterol must be good for you. Who knew?

I don't think I could do Atkins without the chicken & red meat! Are you sure this is the diet for you? You're probably not eating enough fat (as crazy as this sounds!) Remember the Atkins way is with protein & fat - sounds like you're not getting enough of either. (have you checked his book - there must be a chapter about vegetarian eating!)

Yes, I read the book twice. I'm getting enough protein and fat because I eat eggs, fish and cheese everyday, along with mayonaisse and sour cream.
I tried the low fat diet but I'm always hungry and thinking about food. With Atkins I don't even know it's lunchtime!

Crustless quiche, perhaps?

It's all the same stuff but maybe the taste and texture will make it easier for you....

How about an Atkins pizza? Slices of pepperoni covered with shredded mozzarella cheese and nuked until it is bubbly. I love that for breakfast. Wait, you are vegan? You don't eat pepperoni?

Then mushrooms with mozzarella melted on top :)

Deviled eggs are slightly different and I love them.

It's more difficult on the Alex challenge.

How about brocolli or cauliflower in cheese sauce? I love that cheese sauce and it is so easy to make.

Spreadable cheese on cucumber slices. How many carbs are in tofu?

Think outside of the box. Be creative :) There are a couple of other threads about this very topic here on WISH. I'll try to find them.

I've been on this diet for about 2 weeks (although I have cheated) I only want to lose 20 pounds. I am having a hard time with the eggs too. Sad part is I don't use condiments and I'm not that fond of peppers & onions so I really have no way to jazz then up. Hang in there!

Have you considered Sugar Busters? My doc recommended it to me a few years ago. He had lost over 30 pounds on it. I lost about 15 pounds in less than two months. Everything was shot at Christmas time, when my family started whipping out all the sugary desserts. I was really happy on that diet, and I can't believe I didn't restart it after the holidays. :(
It allows you to eat sugar free, whole grain products like whole wheat bread and pasta. You can't have sugar, white flour, regular pasta, carrots, corn, etc. Since you don't eat meat, it might be something you'd be interested in.
Good luck to you!!

I agree with Julie. Much as I think Atkins should be able to work for anyone- I really can't imagine doing Atkins without EVER eating meat, poultry -nor eggs/fish since you are getting tired of those! There isn't a whole lot left to eat except veggies and cheese. :(
I mean I know there are a lot of vegetarians doing Atkins- but without eggs or fish (ie: that would be like vegan- right?) that has to be pretty hard to figure out what to eat. I wish I could help!!

Sadly I don't think you can do Atkins properly with just veggies and shakes. :( Have you done a search on low-carb or Atkins on the whole web? There are many boards and most of them have recipe forums- man, you wouldn't BELIEVE all the low-carb recipes out there. Maybe it will spark some interest for you in different ways to make fish and eggs?

(question: how do you buy just "whites"? Do you mean in containers or something? Because if it's not a real egg with the yolk taken out- it's probably got other stuff in it)

Sugar Busters DanDave, I've never heard of that diet. I've had such great success on Atkins I don't know if I dare go off of it again. The last time I lost all my weight then went to a low fat diet, I gained it all back plus more.

Deviled Eggs sounds great Katholyn! No pepperoni for me:D
I could eat more tofu than I'm eating now, thanks for reminding me. I usually just eat organic baby spinich, so maybe I should broaden my food choices. That ought to do it!

grinninghost, your DH must be so proud of himself to have such great success with his blood pressure! Looks like he'll be doing Atkins for life.

Lynn, I feel the same way!!!

I have gone off Atkins for 3 days now and will stay off until I get back from Bermuda Sunday night. I will re-enter the induction phase on Monday morning along with DH.....hopefully this will also help with my "stall"............

Good luck.........

I sent you a PM Rosemary!
