This IDIOT of a woman was driving down the road about to get on the freeway, it was a really nice car, 4 door plenty of space inside NO ONE in the backseat. I look over and this woman is driving, there is a grown up in the passenger seat with a TODDLER sitting on the floor!!

The little girl was going between sitting on her lap and playing on the floor. I looked over once and she was just bouncing around and the passenger was just playing with her like it was no big deal that she was right in front of the airbag her head was right against the dashboard!

Do people NOT realize what would have happen if that aribag gone off?????

This is a really sore subject with me because a friends GDD was killed by an airbag going off. At that time no one knew you werent supposed to put a rear facing car seat in the front seat. :( It was a terrible accident. They thought they were doing the right thing by having their child in a car seat all buckled in and then she got hit by a car in a parking lot, the airbag went off....

:(

Anyway, I just pray someone pulled her over in time
This is the second time Ive seen this this week! The first time was with a newborn and the mom just got in and was holding the baby no seatbelt on her or anything. I didnt have my cellphone with me then or I would have called thenm too.

OK vent over

Please buckle your kids.

Don't blame you for being mad Binny!!!

Sorry to hear about your friends GDD.

I always buckle my girls in the BACK!!!!!! 4 year old is still in a car seat. You can NEVER BE TOO SAFE!!!!

Good for you Binny! We have a 'backseat only' rule for all kids under 13. Period. And the little ones stay in a carseat/booster seat until age 5 or 6. Period.

What a bunch of moron parents! Don't they care about their children??? I hope the cops give them a ticket. My sister in law who lives in Texas said that you can phone the cops about seatbelt issues and if you give them the plate number they will send the offenders a letter. If they get 3 letters they get a ticket too!

My oldest DS is almost 23 years old. He came home from the hospital as a newborn in a carseat! So these idiots who say "but he won't stay in his carseat/seatbelt" are morons!

My youngest went through a period where he would get out of the carseat (the boy is mechanically inclined, he figured out how to get that thing undone before he could walk or talk!) but I promptly put a stop to it. I'd pull over wherever we were - whether it be flying around the beltway or just on our street - and buckle him back in. He finally learned that as many times as he could figure his way out, Mommy could figure his way back in.

Hopefully this person was trying to pull over, if not, then I hope she learns before its fatally too late.

so..what did 911 say...i was wondering if they consider that a nuisance call( I don't thnk so..)..or if they took your seriously?

Good for you!!!!!!1

My kids know the rule..it still applies and they are 9, 12 and 14, is...we don't even back out of the driveway until all belts are on.

It burns me up to see cars with kids standing in the backseat!! This kids will become human projectiles in an accident.

Binny, I remember a story on the news a while back very similar to your friends GDD story. Very tragic and sad..but we didn't know then what we know now. How parents can think nothing will happen to their child is such a mistake. Accidents happen and they happen anywhere!

I was really impressed with John-Cole's new male teacher yesterday. J.C. had just gotten in the car and was talking to me (we hadn't even pulled out of the pick-up space) and J.C. glanced over and Mr. Killens made the buckle your seatbelt sign....really impressive to me.

You did the right thing!

Binny, I hope you're not talking about that little girl who was decapitated in the Shopko parking lot a few years back. Was that your friend's GDD? That was awful! :( I think about it all the time. It was Thanksgiving week. :(

911 was very responsive they thanked me profusely and said she was going to broadcast immediately she asked if I would like to give my name and cell number in case there were any questions so of course I did. I never heard back so Im hoping I gave them enough info.

All I had was a partial plate number, the direction it was going ( she was stopped at an intersection at the time) and what kind of a car it was.

Nope she followed me for a good 5 miles and pulled out behind me from a parking lot, I cant that she ANY intentoin of getting the child in the carseat. I didnt even SEE a carseat

This child could not have been 2 yet.

I asked someone once if that was a disposable child they had in the front seat. (Their window was down and I have a convertible) The woman just looked at me and then I said, "Well, I hope so, because when you slam on the breaks that kid is going right out the front window!" I was so mad, the kid was standing up in the front seat!

Geez, I don't even let my dogs in the front seat. I did once just for a 2-minute fun-ride down a side road, and a little pothole (at maybe 15-20 mph) made her smash her nose into the dashboard! Now I have "zero tolerance."
