my bf (28) just officially signed into the navy yesterday. he has been talking about it for a year off and on. I did come to my own conclusion that it was a great choice for him. Now that it's "real" so many ?????. Not sure what to really make of it

Air Force/Air National Guard wife of 15 years here, feel free to ask any questions ~ there are lots of us military wives on the boards. PM if you want...
Good luck to you both!

That is wonderful. We all owe him, you and folks like you guys a huge debt of gratitude. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes Thanks. And wishing you both the best the military has to offer.

Congrats to your husband. Navy Reserve wife here. If you have questions, the military board can be alot of help.

Navy wife here too! I've been a Navy wife for 11 years (DH has 13 yrs in). Congrats to you and your DH! Any questions, just ask!

I have been with my husband for 16 years. This is his 24th year in the Navy.

That's great news! I've been a civilian employee of the Navy for almost 20 years, so I've worked with lots and lots of Navy spouses. It's a tough job, but the community is wonderful!

Another Navy wife checking in :wave2: . DH has been in for 15yrs, we got married two weeks prior to him leaving for boot camp. PM if you have any questions and Welcome Aboard!

Welcome! And thank you to your husband for choosing to serve this country during such turbulent times. This is commitment he's made, but it will affect you both.

It is not an easy lifestyle, nor is it a romantic lifestyle. You will learn a lot about yourself and about the Department of Defense! Pronto! What kinds of questions do you have now? You will pick things up very, very quickly. Except for TriCare. But that's the great labyrinth anyway  When you get on base, be sure to try one of the orientation sessions to acquaint yourself with the base itself. DH will be able to give you a tour of the ship, sub, whatver he's assigned to. Get involved with the Wive's Clubs. I've found some are great and some are catty. Learn what you need to and take advantage of what you can. Hopefully, it will be one of the awesome Wives Clubs.

DH got out of the Navy last May. He spent 8 years in- 5 in school and 3 in the fleet. You will find a lot of support- and be sure to take it. If you were interested in a general military brides board, the one of www.theknot.com is fairly good. If you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask. PMs work best.

If you end up stationed in Norfolk, I can definitely give you a few pointers! :rotfl2:

My brother started bootcamp for the Army this morning... :guilty:

Congratulations, and a big thank you to you and your DH! I love being a military wife. It's not an easy road, but the comraderie and pride you feel knowing knowing that your DH is one of the brave men who chose to defend our country makes it all worthwhile in the end.

Oh, and then there's that whole man in uniform thing too ;)

Thank you all for your warm thoughts. I am sure i will be taking you up on your pm offers. :goodvibes
