I Hope you Dance

Belle, yep that song would do it for me! Anything that's the least bit sappy can get me going!

DH and I had this played at our wedding reception. It was his idea...kind of his way of saying thanks to everyone and to not let life pass you by...he was a 40yrs. old first time groom...and uh, yeah, he's a silly ol' bear...why I love him.

Our wedding in September 2001 was a bringing together of family and we really hoped it would stay that way...my mom died in September 1999...after that my 3 half-sisters would not speak to my dad or I...they had some warped issues in their minds that each needed to deal with concerning their relationships with their step-dad and because I was his child and I disagreed with them on the handling of our mom's estate I was just as evil as he was in their eyes. So, DH and I thought long and hard about inviting them, their spouses and children...we finally decided that we could extend the olive branch, but it was for them to decide to accept. Each of my sisters were at our wedding, 3 of the 4 kids (one was in a wedding the same day and couldn't make it) were there...one of the kid's spouses, but none of my BILs. I think it may have been the best wedding gift I could have received.

So, at the reception, DH said his lovely words to me, his thanks for everyone coming and sharing the day, and his hope for everyone there...then the song was played. We didn't actually have any dancing planned...we didn't even have a DJ or band...just the background music provided in the restaurant we had our reception...but DH and I danced as everyone watched. So, it's a special song for us.

The song I keep getting all teary eyed at lately is one by Rascal Flatts...an I'm not a huge country fan...I just listen to all kinds and the best radio station around here for weather and news in the morning happens to be country. It's called "Skin", but you might know it better as "Sarah Beth"...gets me every blasted time.

Here are the lyrics to it...

Sarah Beth is scared to death
To hear what the doctor will say
She hasn't been well
Since the day that she fell
And the bruise, it just won't go away
So she sits and see waits with her mother and dad
and Flips through an old magazine
Til the nurse with the smile
Stands at the door
And says will you please come with me

Sarah Beth is scared to death
Cause the doctor just told her the news
Between the red cells and white
Something's not right
But we're gonna take care of you

Six chances in ten it won't come back again
With the therapy were gonna try
It's just been approved
It's the strongest there is
I think we caught it in time

Sarah Beth closes her eyes
and She dreams she's dancing
Around and around without any cares
And her very first love is holding her close
And the soft wind is blowing her hair

Sarah Beth is scared to death
As she sits holding her mom
Cause it would be a mistake
For someone to take
A girl with no hair to the prom

For, just this morning right there on her pillow
Was the cruellest of any surprise
And she cried when she gathered it all in her hands
The proof that she couldn't deny

Sarah Beth closes her eyes
and She dreams she's dancing
Around and around without any cares
and her very first love was holding her close
and the soft wind is blowing her hair

It's quarter to seven
That boy's at the door
And her daddy ushers him in
And when he takes off his cap
They all start to cry
Cause this morning where his hair had been
Softly, she touches just skin

They go dancing around and around
Without any cares
And her very first true love is holding her close
For a moment she isn't scared...

I don't like country music at all, so I do have a problem with the song as far as that goes, but I like the words and the tune so can ignore the country twang.
Wow! Me too....Being in Idaho, I am truly feeling like a loner here. Glad to know there are others like me! :teeth:
