We will have anywhere from 6 to 10 and one night even 18 in our dining party. Some are on the DP and some are not. Do they do separate checks for each individual family and separate 18% charge for tips? I am going to use cash for my tips and I just wanted to know how much cash to bring in advance. Do they just charge 18% of my bill or the whole table's total bill?

1) They can split the checks and tips for each person, if requested.
2) They have to do it for DDP people, anyway.

NOTE: By the way, there is only ONE stupid question. That question is "Why didn't I ask that question when I had a chance?".

We usually have anywhere from 8 to 13 people. Tell the server when you are seated that you'll need separate checks. We've never had a problem with this. In December some of the places charged the 18% to each check while others did not. So just check the itemzied receipt to see if they did or not.

They will separate the check any way you wish. It is best to let the server(s) know who is on which check even before the ordering starts, this will speed things up and prevent errors.

And since the party is six or more, the 18% gratuity will automatically be added to each check, even if a particular check is fewer than six people. The gratuity is based on each check.
