I loved the Wish..
Certainly did not see any bashing.I find it interesting you’ve come to dislike something just by a video without the experience. I for one am glad I didn’t listen to all the negativity here about the Wish. It was indeed a beautiful ship, bright where the others come across as a bit darker. I didn’t care for the size of our room but we enjoyed the trip. Are the differences enough that it‘s noticeable such as the buffet layout? yes. Is it enough to bash it and say I’ll refuse the Treasure and never sail on the Wish again? Absolutely not. I for one am glad I step to the beat of my own drum and not others or I would have missed out. If one goes into something looking for issues, you’ll find it. I’m a firm believer that one should experience something themselves and decide for themselves. There’s been a lot of opinions about the ship compared to others that I’m surprised there’s yet another negative Wish post all from a you tube video. And I’m sure you’ll find plenty of folks who agree with you but that’s my 0 cents worth. On a side note, there seems to be a lot of negativity going around lately. Holy smackers.
Disney as a whole has made changes in the last few years that customers have not liked. They have walked a few back of those at WDW, but the Treasure will not be an improvement over the Wish. I think they were too far along in the process to change anything.Totally agree! I was expecting the Treasure to be the same, but with different theming. Had my fingers crossed that some bigger changes could be made to the third. Disney got our hopes up on our June Dream cruise. It was announced to the Pearl, Platinum, and Gold cruisers that “due to feedback from CAST and cruisers that LOTS of changes were coming to the Treasure.” Everyone erupted in loud cheers and applause. I do not think cast or cruisers complained about the theming. Was so disappointed in the Treasure reveal.
We are with you. I think it is a really pretty ship, but does not function as well for us in the spaces we prefer on the other ships. We were actually booked b2b in early July of last year. We happened to be in the group that got cancelled because it was not ready.Disney as a whole has made changes in the last few years that customers have not liked. Layout is the most important feature of a ship, theming is just the icing on the cake, and Disney is the best at icing. I don't think there is anything they can do to fix what most of us don't like.
I'm sure some day down the road when prices come down we'll try it just to try it.
Well it was certainly negative considering they were going off a YouTube video. There’s been so much Wish discussion I’m uncertain why start another one. Sort of like the person who brought the pic of the decorated room to talk trash about it and get that whole discussion started. I noticed that whole thread has vanished.Certainly did not see any bashing.
The person who took the picture (or maybe it was their room) came by and was upset someone had used it without asking. Removing it was the proper thing to do.Well it was certainly negative considering they were going off a YouTube video. There’s been so much Wish discussion I’m uncertain why start another one. I absolutely 100% agree!!! Thanks for doing so!!The person who took the picture (or maybe it was their room) came by and was upset someone had used it without asking. Removing it was the proper thing to do.
We're from Sooke on the island and we did the Wish last year though we typically do longer cruises. The Wish cruise we were on was a 3 night sailing. We were hoping to do the 4 nighter but it didn't line up with our schedule. It is a very short cruise and we weren't able to see all of the ship - just impossible. There are places that people talk about on the ship that I still have no idea where they are - lol. We are going on the Fantasy again next September as that is the length of cruise we prefer. We didn't really like the Wish for a number of reasons that have been already talked about on this thread (the lack of specific adult area being one of them), but . . . . I can see us going on the Treasure due to her taking over the Fantasy itinerary. If we don't like the Treasure then we'll try something else but I am willing to give it a try. We;re going on the Wish in under 3 weeks. We've actually never been on the Dream or Fantasy, just the Magic and Wonder so I'm sure the size will be a bit of a shock. I'm more concerned we won't like the cruise length though. Our last two cruises were 14 nights and 11 nights. The 14 nighter ended up with 10 sea days and the 11 nighter had 4 so we're used to a lot of onboard time. Not sure how we'll like only having one sea day. We're hoping to sail the Treasure in 2025 and I'm glad it's doing 7 night sailings. Wish will probably be one and done for us just because of the shorter itineraries. We fly from Vancouver, B.C. so it's a long way to go.
Just to be clear - the elevators aren't that much of a challenge. It's only when you are at the aft elevators and want to get up to Palo/Enchante that you have the issue of getting an elevator that goes all the way up there. For any other use of the elevators it's never an issue.
Yes we are doing WDW both before and after to make a full trip out of it. The other issue with both the Wish and the Treasure is that we prefer the more unusual itineraries like Panama Canal and Iceland which is one of the reasons we’ve still not been on either the Dream or the Fantasy. Now that their itineraries have either already changed or are likely to change maybe we’ll actually get on one of them. We're from Sooke on the island and we did the Wish last year though we typically do longer cruises. Coming from the west coast makes shorter cruises much harder to justify - especially the cost - which is why we would probably never do one that short again. However, we are DVC members so we go every other year and tie the cruise in with a DW stay, I don't know if you are staying longer before or after your cruise, but doing that might make it more worthwhile for you. Either way, you will still have a fabulous time I am sure!
Wow - that sounds fabulous! Would love to get on the cruises you have been on. Have looked at the repositioning cruises from Vancouver - maybe we'll do that at some point. We will have a good time. I’m just reminding myself not to overschedule. We have a Pacific Coast cruise from Vancouver in March that is all sea days so I can get my onboard fix then.
I’m really excited about the repositioning. We’re not telling the kids until we’re actually at Canada Place to board and I can’t wait.Wow - that sounds fabulous! Another solution to that problem is to get on the first elevator and take it to the top floor it goes to. Then get off and pus the up button for the one that does finally go to 13. Yes, that can be frustrating. But when I wanted to go back up, oftentimes I would get an elevator that wouldn't go up to deck 13. Because there was already an elevator there, I couldn't push the button again to get another elevator that might go up to deck 13. I needed to go inside the elevator, push the button to a random deck, get out the elevator before the door was closed, wait for it to go to another deck, then I can push the button to call for another elevator that may or may not go up to deck 13.
Very few ships seems to have a wrap-around promenade for running. Most ships with a running track have something much smaller on the upper decks instead. We have the Wish booked for this winter and the Treasure booked for next winter. I figure if we really hate the Wish, we can always book something else for next winter because I expect them to be the same.
I am a bit bummed about the lack of a running track, but in watching some non-DCL cruise related videos, I heard a lot about the wrap-around decks being a very 90s design thing for cruise ships -- so it makes sense that the earlier ships had that. As a runner, I did like having the loop on the Magic and Fantasy, but... to be honest it was kind of a pain. The view was like 1/3 pretty and 2/3 beige hallways. Plus constantly ducking dodging other runners, walkers, shuffle-boarders, families ambling, etc. I'd definitely still prefer that to a gym, but I'm not too put off by it.
Well Disney, can we at least get that?Very few ships seems to have a wrap-around promenade for running. Most ships with a running track have something much smaller on the upper decks instead.
No surprise there. What you have is the people who like the shorter cruises for whatever reasons price, time off work etc of course will check out the wish. Then you have the people who like the 7 night and longer cruises going on the wish just to check her out and some of them doing b2b.The one thing I hope the Treasure doesn't borrow from the Wish is the prices. Wish has been selling out nearly every sailing at bonkers prices.
I think because it lends itself so well to stage adaptation. For some reason, they don't want to do many of the classic shows. Many of the newer shows just don't lend themselves to musical adaptations as easily....I wonder why Beauty and the Beast when it's been on the Dream for years. You would think they would come out with something new. If the theme is adventure that doesn't seem to fit.
