I think out of all the hundreds of trips I have made to WDW this last one is in the top 3 best trips ever!
This was our first time staying at the Poly. We booked concierge. WOW! Loved the Hawaii building and the concierge lounge and all those benefits!
But the best thing ever? Was the rooms location and the view. #1506 looked right at the castle, perfect, breath taking view. In fact I fell asleep both nights watching the castle change colors. Cause you know why? Magic Kingdom was my back yard, literally! I think I had the best view in the entire 'world'.
I think the only draw back of the entire resort is that they have NO hot tubs. Now soaking in the hot tubs while on a December Disney trip is one of my traditions. So not having a hot tub to throw my aching feet/body into at night was a shame but not too much of a draw back NOT to stay at the resort again.
We really loved staying there and I would HIGHLY recommend to everyone to stay Poly concierge atleast once. Cause that is definitely the way to fly. The convienience of the monorail was great.
This was a perfect resort for families and for couples. If the weather had been sunny and warm I think the romance of this resort would have been almost palpable.
Thank you to everyone who wrote the Poly's praises and eased my fear of an old stinky worn-out resort. Cause it wasn't. It was clean, fresh, maintained and impressive.

I visited the Polynesian with my DS last week and simply fell in love with the place. It was so pretty there and we loved sitting on a swing on the beach looking across the lake....heaven!!!!:D

So glad to hear you had a great time at the Poly!! I think its my favorite of all. Something about the Contemporary and the Polynesian always make me feel completely Disney!

It is the ultimae escape into magic! Don't get me wrong I love all the other WDW resorts, but the original three will always hold a special place in my heart!

Glad you had a great trip. We stayed at the Poly a few months ago and loved it. I know we'll be back there again.

AllisonG, Glad you had a great trip. I was afraid when I booked the Poly in June, I went concierge, Hawaii building, we loved it. I couldn't believe that it was in such good condition, no musty smells and very clean, I'd go there again in a heart beat
:D

That is so great to hear!! We leave in two weeks for the poly!! :)
So could you tell us what was to eat in the lounge?? Also if you drink what kind of wine did they serve?? Thanks so much!!:)

I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself there. I hope to try it eventually. I loved sitting in my room at the Contemporary and watching the monorail whiz by the castle. So relaxing :)

Tnkrbell,
Yes, we did have wine in the lounge. I don't know brands but types of wine were: Merlot, white, Cab Sau, wh. zinny. From 8pm to 10pm desserts and dessert liquors like: Bailey's, Frangel, Kahlu, ect.
I am still reeling from my recent trip. I really was super impressed by this resort.
You know? I really like Fort Wilderness too. Another great resort. Has anyone stayed at FW Cabins? That's where my January-birthday trip is going to be spent. We have stayed about 5 times in the cabins and love them.
I too enjoy the older resorts. They do symbolise the 'early years' and are special to me. It was a thrill to have been able to stay at the Poly.

Hi All:

Glad you enjoyed the poly. We were down last april for our 25th anniv, and went gardenview concierge and loved it as well. For a family having all that food/snacks during the day is key. a nice assortment of food. By the way my hubby is now stuck on this wine we had there, I hope I am spelling it correct "white zinfindale" that is all he buys now. lol. They were very generous with the wine as well.

The resort to us is out of this world calming, beautiful etc. We did not have allisons view but we did have ground floor with ducks and bunnies running thru our beautiful garden, and the ducks would actually use their beaks to peck at our sliding door, which I opened and fed some bread that I bought for them, it was great if your an animal lover. I can't say enough about this place. Yes I would stay there again concierge or non concierge.

The view from the lounge and allisons room of the castle is out of this world beautiful as well. It is our fav resort.

Do all the rooms in the conceirge building have such a good view, or you especially lucky with your room? What floor were you on? Did you have a balcony? What was the food like in the lounge?

I'm glad you had such a great trip, you've made me want to try the Poly even more now! Next trip!

The rooms in the concierge bldg are either gardenview (which we had and are cheaper) or lagoonview facing the castle.

We had ground floor with a patio and a garden in front, some of the gardenviews had a grass area in front, we faced the quiet pool which was about a of minute away. The building has three floors, the top floor has balconies but I do not think the second floor has balconies. We always ask for ground floor wherever we stay, that is just us.

The food in the lounge was very good, oatmeal, small cereals, pastries, muffins, fruit for breakfast, all the bottled water you want, and you can take it to the parks instead of buying water there, fruit and cookies, soda, gummy worms during the day and then at 5 oclock we had chicken wings one night with vege's and dip, penne another night, stirfried rice and chicken another night, they always had peanut butter sandwiches, pudding and a huge bowl of strawberries on the childrens buffet. The guava juice is really good, apples, bananas, oranges and pears during the day also.

Deserts, wines and liquers at 8.00. So basically breakfast, and a light meal at supper, which was fine in the heat of florida.

Deb.
