I bought DS a star wars costume on amazon for halloween. It looked really nice, fit well. He wore it to school on halloween and came home with EIGHT rips in the seams. I had to quickly sew (badly, as i can't really sew) them all before trick or trick or treating that night. :furious::furious: Completely fell apart. We own five other deluxe star wars costumes and they have all held up well.
So I went on amazon the next day and tried to return it. Found out it was another company, emailed and, not surprisingly, received no response. Their return policy stated no returns on costumes after Oct 31st. Figured I was out the money, but still mad because of the poor construction of the costume. Should have been advertised as one wear only! Anyway, after a few days I filed a claim with Amazon and was immediately given a gift card for the amount. It would take longer if you wanted the money back because they would have to review the claim. If you took a gift card, it was immediate. Since I shop on amazon weekly, gift cards are just fine. :) So, now i'm going to give DS the money...
Anyway, just sharing my love of amazon... :rotfl:

Amazon has amazing customer service. They are so incredibly responsive and have always resolved my issues quickly!

A word of caution-find out if you need to return the costume.
I ordered a DVD that was supposed to be new. When it arrived it was not(and did not even work). Since I bought it from "another company" Amazon would not send another movie. But issued a credit for the damaged item. MONTHS later they charged my card for the damaged item saying it had not been returned.

OOh, thanks for letting me know. So far, Amazon just sent a message saying to let them know if the company contacts me for the return. I'll have to check with amazon...

I had a terrible experience with the Warner Bros. online store with a halloween costume two years ago. The fabric was absolutely ROTTING away.... it was already a light-weight gauzy fabric, but it appeared to have been stored somewhere really warm or something and when DS put the costume on it literally started to disintegrate! When I called the company I was told that I had until 5pm THAT DAY (about 1-2 days before Halloween) to return it for a refund. But that would have left DS without a costume.

I pulled out my sewing machine and patched it up the best I could (it was a Death Eater from Harry Potter). It wasn't seams that let go, but the actual fabric. It was tough to get it into one piece for trick-or-treating, but I managed.... but it was in shreds by the time he got home. I will NEVER, EVER, EVER buy anything from them again. Not to mention I felt it was really pricey to begin with ($50 plus shipping for a robe/hood and plastic mask, wand not included).

SO glad that you had a good experience with Amazon. DH signed us up for Amazon Prime earlier this year and I didn't agree with the decision, but nice to hear that they have good customer service!...................P

I bought my boys' costumes at Costco this year and they got ripped up just wearing to play indoors. That kind if thing isn't normal for Costco quality. Glad you got the money, OP!

Our costumes were poor quality this year as well. Darth Vader fell apart and was safety pinned together during trick I treating.

Costco has a very generous return policy. I would return them if the quality was unacceptable.
