First, I called today to book my June 2009 vacation/parents 40th anniversary trip and was told that they have no preferred sites left. I booked a premium, pet friendly site (that premium is something that I won't get started on right now) and will continue to call. I was told that all of the sites have been released and they have nothing else. Do you think that this is the truth? Would they really have released all of the sites this early? You can only book over the phone as the web site will not allow for booking that far out.
Second, I got the passholder rate for my coming up trip. The CM was reading my motorhome specifications to me (awning, slide outs, etc...) and I told her that pets should also be included on the ressies. She said that they were having to tell people that pet loops were not guaranteed and there may be a small chance that you may have to kennel your pets. WHAT? That is the exact reason that they vacation with us so that we don't have to kennel them back home. Has anyone had this happen to them? I will NOT be happy if I get down there with my dogs and then they tell me that they can't accomodate them.

You have got plenty of time to get a preferred site and pet loop. I have always gotten a pet loop, but IIRC if they are full they will put you in a "regular" loop with your pet. The only problem with that is other campers in that loop are there because they have no pets and are not always friendly toward pets " in their loop". So hopefully all will be resolved by June 09. I've never heard of mandatory kennel, unless this is totally new, the CM was misinformed.

I agree...plenty of time to get worried about this later. One thing to remember...the people on the phone taking your reservations.....they've probably never even stepped foot on FtWilderness grounds and only know what ntheir computer screen tells them about the fort. Im sure, especially with you making reservations this early that everything will work out just fine for you....and, this is my opinion and doesnt really warrant any recognition....but if they have released all the sites that will be available for june 2009 already and you cant get a preferred site versus a premium, then the fort is doing some mighty good business!!!! Yes, its sometimes rough getting a site, but I bet if you called again as early as TODAY...you get a completely different story from the cast member on the phone. They mean well....but sometimes they just dont know Jack from Jill!!!

Look up Rhonda on here and look into Dreams Unlimited. If there's a site out there, she will find it. Great service and you don't need to do a thing!

I wouldn't worry about this it was probably the same person on the phone as when I booked a prefered pet loop site for a 40 foot tt and the person asked me if "we were flying in ". :scared1:

Or the CM that insisted that we have insurance on our golf cart to cover 60,000.

Or the CM that told me the extra adult charge would be 15.00 a night. :headache:

Like I always say if it sounds weird just hang up and get another CM.

I started calling 500 days out for this Dec. trip. I was told that all sites except partial hookups were all booked up! I freaked out a little bit but the good folks on here told me not to worry, just keep trying. I did, and a few weeks later I got my reservation. I was checking availability almost everyday for a few months and I noticed that more and more sites were available. It appeared that many sites were held back for a few months even though they denied it. I think the best time when more sites are available is between 9 and 12 months from your desired check in date. I know for a fact that last fall when i was booking my trip for this dec, the period of 450 to 500 days out had almost no sites available. Then a little later all classes of sites for all days in dec '08 were available. So anyway, just keep calling, you will get what you want.

Thanks for making me feel better. I understand from calling back that they are making more premium sites and that only three loops will be preferred. However, even if we don't get into preferred, we still do have a premium. I also wanted to let everyone know that I spoke with someone about the dog issue and they said absolutely not. They would go into an overflow lot before anyone would be forced to kennel. Thanks again!
