ok i am fairly new to this site. i have a question we have reservations at the POP June 12 for seven night we reserved two rooms as there is five of us. i just found out that we can stay at Port Orleans for less money. they have two doubles and a trundle bed. i know that is for 9 and under and my kids are older 22, 20 and 17 but my oldests and youngest weigh under 100 lbs [ 85 and 90 ] and are around 4'11" so they are about the size of a 10 or 11 year old..
should i stick with the Pop or do you thingk we could go with the Port Orleans . the kids picked the POP because of the Icons but to save money we could do without. we want to stay in the park but need to save money[ doenst everybody] our travel agent said we would nt be comfortable but truth is she gets a commission so less money is also less money for her. and how much are you in your room. i am just concerned about the trundle bed i havent ever seen one. that i can remember thanks bunches ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

I have stayed at POR and my dd used the trundle bed. She turned 6 on that trip. I really would suggest that you not make a change. The trundle bed is right on the floor (has very little wheelie thingies on it), it is really small. My dd fit on it but after two nights she started wheezing and coughing from all the dust and stuff on the floor. With 3 adult children you are going to be very glad you have two rooms. You'll need two bathrooms!!! I would definatly stay with the two rooms. You are probably paying $111. a night (with tax) at POP and most likely $150 (or so) at POR. Spend the extra and use two rooms. I would in a heartbeat.

I have stayed at POR a few times and I wouldn't sleep on the trundle. I is really tiny and when it is pulled out it eats up most of the floor space in the room. I'm only 5'5" and I wouldn't have been comfortable on it! I would stick with Pop!:earsboy:

I would do anything humanly possible to have two rooms and not be crammed in a moderate with that many people. Plus since two of the kids are adults, you'll be paying extra for two additional adults.

Keep POP and enjoy the room experience as much as you'll enjoy the parks!

thanks so much that was my feeling also. but when faced with savings money i get a little over excited. we are going to stick with what we have and that way my husband and I and the girls will have privacy and two bathrooms. but sometimes it is nice to have someone agree with me[ it happens so rarely] LOL :chat:  ::MickeyMo next question how is WDW in June is it hot, hot

2 bathrooms, 2 TVs, more space...I'd definitely stick with 2 rooms at Pop. You may be able to get your rate reduced if a code comes out. If you are going in June, start checking in March/April to see if any discounts become available.

Yep, it's pretty hot. We've gone in mid-Oct, early Nov, mid-Dec and twice in mid-August. Nothing can compare to the heat/humidity of August!!! Love Nov. I'm going in mid-June this year, so I'm hoping it's better than August. Should be hot and humid though.

we have gone in Feb and March. 4th of July and also August . July was the worst. so crowded and s o hot.
august we had a major storm and it rained hard most of the week. we wanted to go in November but college vacations made it necessary to change to June. i cant wait we need this so bad.

Two rooms sounds like a good move.
{When you figured the cost, did you add in the extra charges for 4 adults + the 5th person in the trundle bed? There might not be so much difference in cost.}

I just checked on the WDW site and 2 rooms at POP are ~$220/night and 1 room at POR for 5 (4 adults) is ~$200. Is the $140 you'd save worth giving up your privacy for? And losing out on park time while you wait for 5 people to use 1 bathroom?

PS -- we had connecting rooms at POP with 1 King and 2 doubles, which was great! (We were told ahead of time the King might be handicapped accessible, which it was. The only difference we saw was the open shower, which meant the bathroom floor got wet, but we put towels down and it was fine. We're just not comfortable in a double bed!

i agree we got a good deal thry small world travel two rooms for 7 nights for $1311.00 so it isnt that bad

and I didnt add in the extra cost kind of missed that step . i kind of wanted others input. as everyone else I would like to save that money. but not at the expense of our sanity or our vacation and we want to stay in the park so we will keep our Pop reservations . :jester: :jester:   :earsboy: :earsboy:

what building would you all reccomend . my husband sometime has problems walking but we also need quiet. any suggestions?

June at Disney (or FL for that matter) is very hot very humid and does tend to rain quite often (luckily the rain storms are over quick and the sun comes right back out)

If you go to www.allearsnet.com They have great photos of the resorts (inside the rooms. lobbies, pools, etc..) and they have a map of the resort also. This will probably help you a lot in choosing a bldg.

Have fun planning!princess:

congrats on your wedding that is cool i wish i could go back and get married that way
i guess after 23 years its a little too late.
