We just got back from a little meeting, and my student, who is blind, just received a scholarship for $60,000!!! I'm so proud! She's also 3rd in her class and this scholarship will allow her to attend the college she wants to!!! :jumping1: :cool1:  :woohoo: :cloud9: :dance3: :yay: :cheer2: ::yes:: :hyper: party:

That is amazing! 60k and being 3rd in her class are very good things to brag about. :thumbsup2

I know that the parents must be proud!!! Congrats on it being your student:woohoo:

Congratulations! That is soooo wonderful. You must be bursting with pride.

I am bursting. I can't explain how big this is for her. She's come from nothing, still has nothing, is faced with a crazy disABILITY with her eyes not working, and she still shines through everything. Omigosh!!

This is great news!
Getting a scholarship of any kind is wonderful these days, but such a big one is amazing.

I am going to move it to the disABILITIES community Board where it will be more on topic.

Fair enough Sue! I didn't quite know where to post, I just hope there might be another young adult with a vision impairment (or any other impairment for that matter) that can see that it can be done. They can succeed despite common misconception that a person with a disability is broken and can't do anything (which drives us all nuts). If I could do a backflip, I would... maybe a cartwheel, I think I can still do those. ;)
