now most of my fears are irrational and weird but i had a nightmare about this last night and its been stuck in my head ever since.

most of you know that i'm really into photography, its my passion, and i can't see myself doing anything else. i love it.

but i've always had this little voice in the back of my head telling me that im' just going to be a starving artist.

i'm not posting this for everyone to say 'oh thats not going to happen' or 'youre an awesome photographer'. i'm posting this to kinda get the thought off my chest.

so thread topic....

do you have a dream job? do you think your dream is attainable? if you could be anything in the world, what would you be? do you have any fears about following your dream?

do you have a dream job? An Author. Definately. But I also really want to work at Disney and for a magazine. Then write my book on the side.
do you think your dream is attainable? I believe so.
if you could be anything in the world, what would you be? An Author, or work in theatre. As in like technical things. Lights and stage decoration.do you have any fears about following your dream? I'm afraid that I won't finish my book. That I'd get my degree in creative writing and all, but when I go to write I just can't. Nothing will come to mind. That I'll only write one book and nobody will read it. I would waste my time learning and writing and not be succesful.

I try not to think about it. But when I'm choosing my journalism, creative writing and other classes I can't help but think what if it doesn't work?
I'm writing a book now, but what if it isn't any good?
What if I just have this empty hope that I'd be an amazing writer like some of the books I've read, but don't actually have the talent. That I just think I do or that I'm making it up and fooling myself?
If it doesn't work out, I do have back up plans. Like theatre, video game design and other things.
Sometimes I just don't feel that I'm good enough for it.

Hope you feel better Shelby.

do you have a dream job? Yes
do you think your dream is attainable? Probably, if I work hard enough to earn it and I don't slack off
if you could be anything in the world, what would you be? Anything..? I'd love to be a CM for Splash Mountain or TOT. That would be fun.
do you have any fears about following your dream? Yeah, sometimes because I want to be a radio DJ for my favorite Country station that:
1. I won't be able to get any kind of job like that because I'm not very talkative
2. I might not even get that job because my dad said that people who want to be radio DJs have to go somewhere else in another state before they can do something in their home state. My dad even said that I probably won't be a radio DJ.

I think that is a fear of most artists...and even though you said you didn't make the thread to hear words of "you can do it!" I'm gonna give it to you anyway lol. You have the personality of someone who will make it far. You are determined, talented, and success-driven - you might not find yourself on Good Morning America or Oprah, lol, but there is no doubt in my mind that you will succeed in your career choice. I can just sense it and I don't even know you that well. ;)

My dream job was always to be an artist and perhaps to be an imagineer for Disney working with creating new and better ideas for the parks, lol. Not happening haha. Then my dream job shifted to playing the piano in Boston Pops hahaha. Not happening lol. Now, my dream job is just to be a successful English teacher who really reaches out to the students. I want to be the type of teacher that Mr. John Keating is in Dead Poet's Society (for those of you who have seen it). I will keep art and music my hobbies and who knows...I might get something out of it. lol. Oh! And it is also a goal of mine to write a book...one that is on the shelves that people will want to read. None of those books that sell on Amazon.com for $.60 haha. I want to be an author that is successful.

I don't really have any fears about following my dream, I'm actually very excited. However, I am scared out of my mind about having to write my Master's thesis. I'm going to grad school after college to try for a Master's degree and even though I'm sure it sounds silly, I'm afraid I won't write a good thesis and will fail to earn the degree.

Most of my fears, however, are not normal haha. One of them even verges on being a phobia. lol.

ya i do

i want 2 be a zooligist

ive always loved animals

but...

to get a degree in most types of science u need 2 b good at math...

i am good at EVERY class but math... i mean STRAIT A's and then a C...

thank you very much.

do you have a dream job? sure do.
do you think your dream is attainable? it definately is.
if you could be anything in the world, what would you be? as of right now, a genetic counselor
do you have any fears about following your dream? i do wonder if i'd get in over my head.

i was JUST thinking about this. i was bored, so i started poking around the collegeboard website, which was not a good idea... i of course see all the FABULOUS schools that i would love to go to. i'd love to be a writer, and columbia just had to have a creative writing major... but then i get to thinking, which turns into doubting, which turns into me realizing there's a very small chance of me getting into any of my dream schools (or if by some miracle i do, not being able to pay for their $40k a year tuitions), being a successful writer, and ultimately NOT being an imagineer (my *cough* dream job). ho-hum.

Yes, I do.
I wanna be on Broadway.
I am definitley scared that I won't be good enough, or that noone will like me. It's hard to think about things like that. If you want to acheive something, you have to put fear out of your mind and focus on the good things, and the positive qualities. If you focus on the fear, then it will ultimatly become you. Of course there will be problems with goals and dreams, there always are and everyone has them. But if you are positive and work hard, then you can acheive any dream.

do you have a dream job? Yes.
do you think your dream is attainable? Yep. If you can dream it, you can do it.
if you could be anything in the world, what would you be? Either, An Imagineer, Forensic Analysist, or a Mortician.
do you have any fears about following your dream? I'm afraid I'll be bored with being a Mortician. They make good money and will never go out of buisness though. Imagineer, I'm afraid I'll lose the magic. Forensic Analysist, no fears.

My dream job would be a zoologist and go over to Africa and study all kinds of animals.

Or open up some kind of animal refuge, like what people do on the Animal Planet channel on the show "Growing Up..." I would love to do that for a living. But I would need lots of money to be able to afford to take care of undomesticated animals, plus hire people to help me, etc. But it is a dream job of mine.

I'd also love, love, love to be an astronaut and be the first person on Mars. But again, that's not going to happen because I don't think I have the guts to travel in outer space, thought I'd love to.

Do you have a dream job? A Doctor. I would LOVE to be a surgeon. Blood and sharp objects do not freak me out in the least. I would love to die knowing that I could have helped at least one person.
Do you think your dream is attainable? With some hard work and support from my family I think I could become a great doctor.
If you could be anything in the world, what would you be? A doctor. I don't care how I die. I don't care if I die in a plane/car crash, I don't care if I die getting shot, I don't care if I die being stabbed to death, I don't care if I die choking to death, and I don't care if I die in my sleep. All I want to know when I leave this earth is that I helped somebody, saved somebody's life, or I did something to make someone truly happy. That's all I really want.

do you have a dream job? Yes, Animator for Pixar
do you think your dream is attainable? Most likely, if I work hard enough for it.
if you could be anything in the world, what would you be? Animator
do you have any fears about following your dream? Yes, sometimes I think that I wont be good enough in math to become an Animator for Pixar.

do you have a dream job?
Yes. A couple.
I'm kind of leaning toward phsycologist. I think I spelt it right.

do you think your dream is attainable?
If I can keep my grades right now constant or possibly better for the rest of my high school career lol.

if you could be anything in the world, what would you be?
I'd really like to be an entertainer at Disney. Or play in an orchestra. Or be a phsycologist. But realistically, I think I'm going to be the phsycologist.

do you have any fears about following your dream?
yes. I really want to major in music, but I feel that my career is going to be in the phsycologist direction. And if I do become one, I'm absolutley afraid that I might give some people the wrong advice and like...mentrally scar them forever...

or if I do something with my music, like play in an orchestra or be a music teacher I won't be good enough...

I'm just afraid that I won't find anything. I want something that'll help me in my future.

My dream job is and always has been to act in some form or another.
And yes, it is QUITE unattainable, and I know that, and for the past few years I've been REALLY struggling with it.

I don't want to act to become rich & famous, I want to act because it is my PASSION, it is the ONLY thing in life that I am truly, completely passionate about and I cannot see myself doing ANYTHING else with my life.

I know I have to talent, I know I have the passion, and I know I have the determination, I just don't know if I have the guts, and I don't think I have the support I need.

My ENTIRE life since I was 2 I've wanted to be an actor, and my family knows that, but they've never given me the push that I need to get into it.
But I promised myself and for my 20th birthday next year I'm going to get headshots and going an agency. So we'll see where it goes.

But you never know...my best friend & his brother are both in film school...maybe they'll become the next Coen Brothers and I will be their muse :goodvibes

I just really hope talent, passion and determination will be enough to allow me to have a steady career as an actor.

**note: i obviously don't mean like a flipin academy award winning actor, I just mean, making creative, awesome projects that I'm really passionate about, whether or not they make it into movie theatres.

do you have a dream job? yes
do you think your dream is attainable? I know it's attainable. It CAN happen, but the likelihood is small
if you could be anything in the world, what would you be? Some sort of entertainer. Actress, singer, stand up comedian, broadcast journalist..I want to entertain. It sounds cliche and dumb, but it's what I've always wanted, ever since I can remember. Specifically acting and music, because that's where my passions are.
do you have any fears about following your dream? Tons. Not only do I have a SERIOUS disadvantage in not having a "stage mom," but there are SO many people out there who want to do what I do. And some of them have more talent, and more funds to get them to where they want to be.

I try just to look at the positives, and think if I do it step by step it will be an easier task, but it's pretty daunting. I just want it SO BADLY.

Shelby that fear is completely normal. And I too have alot of irrational fears.

Honestly, I don't have a dream job. I just want to work with children and better people's lives in some way. Allie stated it perfectly, when I die, I don't care about where I lived, what I owned, I JUST want to make sure I helped somebody. Society today has the mentality of 'me,me,me' and I'm tired of that. I feel it's my duty to give back to society.

do you have a dream job? yes i would love to be a youth minister thats my ground long term dream job but before that i want to play in the nba for a year or so so i can have some cash in the bank.

do you think its attainable? of course i think like rany poush said everything is doable and brick wall are there to keep the people that don't want it bad enough out

if you could be anything in the world what would it be? a fighter piolt but i have bad eyes and you can't be one with glasses soo...

Do you have fears about following your dreams? sometimes but i can mostly get out of it and rember that anyone can do anything they want to

I do have a dream job. Or a dream genre? idk. Since I was like, two, I've wanted to work for the Walt Disney company. Of course, when I was two I wanted to be a princess.
The community college near me offers the Disney college program, and I'm planning on doing that.
After two years at the community college, I'll either transfer to central florida or to UNLV. Central florida b/c it's near WDW, and UNLV because, well... who would want to spend their 21st birthday in Vegas? :D

oh, and I plan on going into hospitality management and administration and working in one of the Walt Disney World resorts.

thats the plan anyway!

and if that falls through, plan B is prostitution! :thumbsup2

I think plan A is pretty attainable, tho. (;
and if I could be anything in the world, I would be...the wife of a veryveryvery rich man and never work a day in my life. haha, thats plan C.
