Unfortunately it's in great shape :guilty: Heres the thing: We've lived in this house for 15yrs. The tile has been bugging me for that long. It's a light blue & beige, color-washed 2" tile with light grout. I'm sure it's supposed to hide dirt, but it just looks dirty all the time. I don't want to put in carpet and area rugs don't cover it well enough. I'm just sick of it and i want it gone!

Do I have to dig it up and have a tilemason re-tile it, or can I cover it with those stick-on 12" vinyl tiles you see at Home Depot?

Next installment: The 28yr old carpet, or How much do I love orange shag?

I feel your pain. I hate my bathroom tile as well and would love to do something with it, but I am not handy and I hate to pay someone to do it. Am interested to see the responses you get.

Good luck.

One of my friends had the tile in her bathroom professionally refinished and it looks really good! It can be done in many colors. I think it cost about $500, but it's a lot cheaper than removing all that tile. Just an idea...

i think the tile in my apartment is worse. it's a pale-ish pink. seriously, what goes well with pale-ish pink tile? it's awful and all over the walls of the bathroom. haha. we think that they just found the cheapest tile they possibly could.

We had this done and it was the best money we ever spent!!! You can get a custom color too... whatever you want. We went from canary yellow and baby blue in the main bathroom to sparkling white tile. We went from (I think) gray and pink tile in the master bathroom to a deep grayish purple. We also had the tubs done. We paid about $1000 per bathroom but again, that also included the tubs and floors. We always get people asking how we got that color in the master bath!!

:rotfl2: The very first kitchen i ever had contained a light pink fridge and matching stove. What goes well with pink--why red & white contact paper, of course! :lmao: I bet the landlord just loved me

I have never heard of refinishing tile. I'm intrigued. :scratchin Where did you find someone to do this(my tub desperating need refinishing).

I never heard of it either. My cousin does tile and he mentioned it... I went to the local paint store (I think Sherwin Williams) and asked if they knew of anyone and was given a great recommendation. He came out, did an estimate and the rest is history. I will try to post before and after pictures.
