The map of this resort is confusing to me. It looks as though the MK is north of Sago Cay & Conch Key, however I don't understand how people are getting "wonderful" MK views staying at Big Pine Key. It seems kind of far away unless the east view gives you an MK view. Are your chances of getting an MK view room better w/ Conch Key than w/ Big Pine Key? Also, it appears that only the courtyard pool is listed on the map. Where is the new themed pool? What building is it closest to?

I have a lagoon view room booked at the GF for Thanksgiving week. Our only requirements were an MK view & Alice in Wonderland themed room for my 4 year-old twins who are Alice fans. There will be 5 of us in the room. Now my husband is concerned about proximity to the Main Building & new pool. I would also like a balcony.

I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks!

You are right, Big Pine Key does NOT give the best MK view. The best MK view (in my opinion) comes from Boca Chica. ;) Conch Key is also good, and Sago is good too.

Big Pine Key does offer fabulous views of the whole lagoon including Poly and CR though. ;) You can see MK off to your left, but there are trees that get in the way.

Jeannine T., try not to fret too much. The GF resort is not really a large one, in my humble opinion, so any of the lodge buildings are close to the main building. The new pool is located between the GF and the Wedding Pavilion, along the beach. It is a lovely pool. Here are my photos of it that I took earlier this year: click here to view pool photos.

Well, in my opinion, I *LOVED* the view from my Big Pine Key MK/Lagoon View room much more than my view from my Sago Cay MK/Lagoon View froom. Big Pine Key's MK view wing (way at the end) would give you a view exactly the same as Boca Chica, but you don't have to worry about your view of the castle being unobstructed! You see the Contemporary, the Polynesian, the entire lagoon, and the Magic Kingdom (Cinderella's Castle!). It's a far more entertaining view. We also watched the fireworks from our room. :)

We stayed at Boca Chica in 1999 and in Conch Key in 2002.

Boca Chica's lagoon view rooms face the ENTIRE lagoon. Meaning not only will you see the castle (off to the left of your balcony) but you will see the Contemporary & Poly as well.

Conch Key's rooms directly face the castle. From our room in Conch Key (Room 7231) we had a awesome view of the castle and if we looked over to the right we saw the Contemporary.

If you want to just look head on to the castle, then I would say stay at Conch Key. If you want to see the entire lagoon, stay in Boca Chica.

Be careful with Big Pine Key lagoon view, be sure to be specific about MK view. We had it on our first trip in 1994 and could only see the Polynesian. They were just starting to excavate for the Wedding Pavillion. The monorail was to our right. No MK view at all. We didn't know about making requests and asking for an MK view.
