I have poison ivy!!

I have two ideas how I may have gotten it: 1) my dog may have had the oils from the plant on his fur or 2) I went out into the side yard (wooded) to find a dead limb to put orange Halloween lights on.

It is on my right arm inside the elbow, on my left upper arm really bad, my left forearm and on my left ear!!!!!!!! It started out like a little rash and now it is starting to blister and weep.

I am taking Benadryl capsules and using Benadryl spray. This is so itchy!! Any other ideas?

By the way, the limb with the orange Halloween lights turned out great. But now I wish I had stayed out of the woods.

Sounds like you're already doing all the traditional remedies. Mind if I suggest something a little less traditional, but maybe more satisfying?

BUY SOMETHING!!! Whenever something realllllllly funny or memorable happens to me I buy a piece of jewelry. Not necessarily crazy expensive stuff...sometimes just earrings for $19.99, but that way everytime I wear them I remember the "funny" "stupid" "crazy" thing that happened, and buying jewelry is a cure all...

Don't all women know that???!!!!

Never really thought about it that way! I do love earrrings. Maybe I should go out and shop for some.

you can get it at walmart for around $4 a tube..really helps dry it out faster..they do have stronger ones..they might be prescription ones..but I have found that this works best for me..good luck!

I had poison ivy a month ago. It got so bad that the doctor put me on prednisone (ugh!). In the meantime, I used this stuff called Calagel by Oak-n-Ivy. I found it in the drugstore; it really helped dry it out a lot.

The doctor told me not to moisturize the blisters, that they need to dry out. Also, she said not to scratch it because the germs under your fingernails can infect the blisters.
