I spent some time almost every day for the past nine months planning our wedding trip to WDW. It was such a great time of excitement and anticipation. I mean, getting MARRIED at WDW! WHAT could be BETTER?!?!

But now that it's over...I have Post Disney Depression.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE being married, don't get me wrong. but suddenly there is a HUGE void in my day.

No gowns to try on.

No decisions about resorts.

No chosing ceremony locations

No decisions about which park what day.

No chosing flowers

No deciding on where to eat.

No ressies to make.

No tours to book.

No wedding cakes to chose from.

No running out out at lunchtime to try on cute white shoes.

No daydreaming about suprising my hubby with RPDE.

No wondering how the Segway Tour will be.

No trying to decide what to go on first.

No anticipating Cinderellabration.

Geez, guess I can do some REAL work.

You can always start planning your first anniversary! :goodvibes

Can you tell me a little more about the segway tour (cost, details, etc)? I'm thinking of surprising my DH2B with that while we're down there for our wedding/disneymoon.

Welcome back to reality!

But seriously, I understand where you are coming from... it's all in the anticipation, you need to start planning something new - maybe not a trip, but something else in your life. :)

Oh Hiway it was GREAT! I forget how much it was. I can look it up though, but I do remember we had a AAA discount.

At first I was kinda nervous. I mean they just LOOK like they are going to fall down. But after ten minutes or so I said to myself "Self, this is ridiculous. You can ride a horse. You can ride a motorcycle. Just RELAX. You CAN do this." So I tried to relax.

Then I said to myself "FEEL THE FORCE" which made me LOL! :rotfl2: After that I was fine.

Really, it's not hard to do!

It was a lot of fun. We practiced for about 40 minutes inside, going back and forth and around cones and up and down a ramp. Then we went outside. FW was open so there were a lot of people we had to go around but we went slowly and stayed in a single file line. Brad was our guide and he was great. We had girl guide bringing up the rear but I forgot her name. She was great too. Very patient. I ran right into her when we were practicing. She was very understanding about it.

Then we went to WS before it was opened. It was abuzz with activity mostly horticulture watering things. We had to go around hoses and golf carts but no crowds. We stopped a different countries and Brad told us interesting facts and history. Then we headed back to FW at the end.

It was absolutely great and a hell of a lot of fun! I highly recommend it!

:earboy2:

Thanks for the Segway info!

I think the cost is around $80/person and it sounds like the total tour (including practice) lasts around 2 hours...so it's before Epcot opens? That makes much more sense!

DH2B thinks they're cool and we figure we most likely can't find anywhere else to really try one out. I think we'd have a blast and now I'm pretty much sold on it!!! I'll have to see what else I can find out about times and availability and stuff!

I know exactly how you feel! My husband is feeling the same way. I am so bad that I keep wearing the clothes that I wore to disney just so I will feel a little closer! I haven't taken off the jewelry I bought while I was there and today me and the new hubby decided we are going to try to do the vacation club! We have become fanatics!!
It is funny because we said while we were on our honeymoon that we should enjoy it because we might not come back for two years. We haven't been married 2 weeks yet and we are already wanting to go back around Christmas!!

I agree with the others. The only way to overcome P.D.D. is to plan your N.T.T.D. That would be you Next Trip To Disney! :cool1:

By the way, what did your new husband think of the RPDE? I'm thinking of doing that for my fiance, his dad and his brother-in-law for when us girls are at the spa. They're all car phanatics...was it worth it?

Thanks!

I felt the exact same way when I got back. Nothing to "plan", nothing to make for the reception, nothing to try on, etc. So, now I'm addicted to the DIS boards. I love to listen to others planning now. :goodvibes

He ABSOLUTELY LOVED RPDE! :goodvibes

I have to say, I think that was the highlight of our week. (OK, I mean besides the actual wedding ceremony.)

It was a suprise for him. I booked it about five months before we went and it was KILLING me to keep the secret. :rotfl2:

The wedding limo picked us up at the airport and took us to the WL and we checked in but then DH realized we still had the limo for a couple of hours. He had no idea I already had it planned that after we checked in we'd take the limo over to RPDE. :rotfl: I was loving this! It was so much fun. And we had the best limo driver! She was playing right along. (They had clued her in beforehand so she knew that was going on and she was GREAT about it!) So the driver said she'd be happy to take us around after we check in, you know, just so we could look around. :rotfl2:

We just happened to end up at the track! Imagine that! :rotfl:

She said "Do you guys want to get out and look around?" Naturally DH ws like "YEAH SURE!"

So I let him look around the showroom for a while then I whipped out the envelope with his name on it and I said "Happy Wedding, Honey."

It took him a minute but then.... :earseek:

I wish I had a camera then. You should have seen his face! :Pinkbounc :bounce:  :Pinkbounc  :bounce:

They really run a professional program there. They have classroom instruction for about 40 minutes. You'll get to sit in on that if you want. Then the drivers all get dressed in these jumpsuits. Which makes them look really cool. :smooth: Then they all go out to the car to learn about the controls. Spouses go to the pits, which is right by the track and under shade, thank goodness. Then they have a driver's meeting, which you can listen in on. Then they take a couple of laps in the van so they can show them were the decelleration cones are and the drive lines and stuff like that. Then they each get their cars. They follow a leader, so really they can go as fast or slow as they want.

One instructor said "If you still feel comfortable, you're going too slow." :bitelip:

DH was very excited to get the Tony Stewart car. :cheer2:

He had a great time and had a HUGE grin for the rest of the day! he kept saying over and over "THAT was THE BEST THING I've EVER done! Thank you SO MUCH!"

As soon as he was done he started calling all his guy friend's back home.

Yeah, i'd say it was worth the money. :goodvibes

I have P.D.D. too...and it is NINE months after our wedding! We were just there last week for a little get-away and visited all the places we had our wedding celebrations at and got totally depressed.

I want to do it again, all of it, even the planning!

I love being married too, but the whole time from the engagement until the wedding was just "magical"!

I love to be on the boards and see and hear about all the other weddings, makes me feel better!

It's been six years (and two kids) later and if it wasn't for DVC I'd still be having P.D.D.

I told my DH (who isn't quite into WDW as much as I am) that I wanted to come back EVERY year. He was skeptical at first saying that he'd like to go other places besides WDW. I told him that I, too, wanted to visit other places AND Disney. He just laughed.

I was 3 months pregnant with my first DD on our last trip and knew that it'd be awhile before we could return AND THEN when she was nine months old I found out that I was pregnant again (HUGE SURPRISE....I shouldn't have been able to get pregnant at that time...we were only planning on one child...God had different plans...ANYWAY) and I knew that it'd be quite awhile before I could return so I started looking into DVC. It was perfect!

I can get my Disney fix and it allows you to use your points at over 400 other locations so DH can get his non-Disney fix every once in awhile. Plus it's good for 50 years so my DDs will have GREAT vacations to look forward to and chances are, so will my grandkids.

Congrats on your wedding....and many happy returns...

Thanks so much for the info. I plan on surprising my DFH with the RPDE so it's good to know it will be worth it! I can't wait!!! :cool1: Question regarding the limo, did you book that through Disney when you made your arrangements? I think I may end up having to do the same thing because how else would I get him to the track?? I love wedding planning!!!

Thanks again!

Reese - I'm with you... my fiance is a stuntman (in his beginning stages of getting into the business) and he LOVES to drive fast... he's talked about going to a track to learn how to drive fast... this wouldn't exactly teach him but it would give him the thrill... I wasn't sure we were going to swap gifts, but after hearing about how great an experience others had and seeing that it's not really that much when you consider how much they get to do, I'm in... keeping the secret will be the hardest part! :goodvibes But I am interested in the limo question as well... we've been there so many times, we know how to avoid lots of areas and if drive there with him myself, it won't be the same.... :cheer2:

I still have Post Disney Depression after 14 months. I am still looking at my wedding pictures all the time and my video is getting worn out. I would love to do it all over again. My Wedding was the most perfect day of my life.
My friend is getting married this Saturday here in New York and I have been so excited helping her plan her wedding and now after Saturday that will be over with too.

I love the vacation club!!! My dfh and I just made the decision to buy MORE points for our membership!!

I, too, have PDD!!!!

We were married at DL in 2000, but he asked me to marry him at Epcot right before the end of IllumiNations.

Our five-year anniversary is this October and I keep thinking we should do a vow-renewal just so I'll have an excuse to wear my wedding dress again. We didn't like how our pictures turned out, you see, so this would be uhm, yeah, a chance to fix that problem.

We are planning at trip to WDW for August and we've already booked the Epcot Segway tour. I hope I get another diamond!!!! :bride: :earsboy:

If you do a vow renewal at Disney World, and you weren't happy with your pictures the first time, I would recommend that you get Randy Chapman for your photographer this time. Disney's package only gives you 12 pictures & you don't get to choose them. Their upgrade is much more expensive than Randy's package & his work is absolutely beautiful. Also, he gives you a master copy of the high resolution CD, so you can make unlimited copies of your pictures. WDW charges $1000 for it.

I had a little accident with my horse and I have a bit of a concussion. I'm a little better now though.

Anyway, the limo was part of the wedding package and since we didn't have any guests and we weren't going anywhere (We stayed and got married at the WL) we really didn't need it. So I asked if we could have it pick us up at the airport and take us to the WL then wait while we checked in and then take us to RPDE.

It was just another of those special requests that I asked of Jennifer O'Leary and she handled this one just like she did all the others. "Sure, no problem". :teeth:

The RPDE track is only about two minutes from the MK. I didn't realize that. It's not a long trip at all.
