I have a Nex 5n on its way but couldn't resist the temptation of the Nex 7. Tonight I just cancelled my order for the OLED viewfinder and requested a return for the 5n from Amazon. I dont know why but I couldn't stop myself from calling Sony and ordering the Nex7 body only. The shipping date is projected for 2/27. I wanted the kit but couldn't wait until the end of march because we are leaving for the World on 3/28.

At least you'll have a sleek new body to find that mind you've lost. ;)

I hope you'll update on how the Nex 7 works out for you....with photos. Congratulations. Great purchase. :thumbsup2

I feel like a kid waiting for christmas! Now i just need to pick up an e-mount lens.

Congrats - should be fun! I'm still waiting on my NEX-5N which should be coming in the next day or two from Amazon, and my EVF for it that likely won't get here until Tuesday next week. I'm sticking with the 5N myself, mainly because I like the smaller form factor - if it were to be my only camera, I might go for the NEX7, but because my DSLR will still get most of the work, the 5N is a great companion.

Looking forward to hearing how the 7 does for you!

Congrats! Love the feeling of picking up new camera gear. Can't wait see photos from your WDW trip.

Justin, I probably be asking you lots of questions!! I ordered the 5n and EVF thinking I would keep my D5100. But an offer came up so I sold the DSLR. For what I shoot, the Nex 7 is perfect. I really opted for it because of the hot shoe. With the absence of my D5100, I wanted the 7 to be able to use my off camera flash setup. Do you know if the 5n and 7 share the same IR remote and batteries. Also, what do you think of the 16 pancake. I need a lens to just throw on and fit in a small bag sometimes.

Congrats!! I can't wait to hear how you like the Nex 7. I was torn between upgrading to it or just adding the EVF for the Nex5n but ultimately decided to go that route. It's a little pain to have to carry the EVF around but then it's only a minority of the photos that I use it for so I can still go very compact with it. And I'm able to achieve most shots now that I could have with my DSLR. It's made me think that with a little practice I might be able to replace my DSLR for action shots too.

The combo I carry most is the 5n with the 16mm attached. I can pop it in any bag and I'm always set with a great camera - just love it. Is the 16mm a super duper lens optically? For the price I'm very satisfied with what it produces and having it means I have my camera with me more which for me makes it a great lens.

I *think* and am pretty sure the remote is the same unit, as is the battery. That was a convenience for me too, as I'll probably just keep the NEX3 around as a backup emergency body, which means I can use the NEX3 battery and new 5N battery in the new body.

I like the 16mm idea - in fact though I've never had one, I've actually been looking to pick a used one up cheap, if I ever run into it...for much the same reason as you mention, just to have a small lens option to stick on there for when I want to bring the camera along for 'just in case' shots. It's probably not the finest piece of optics ever made, but for the size and price it seems to do a solid job, and I've seen nice shots from it. I'd probably rank it along the lines of a basic kit lens - in the right hands and settings, it can do an excellent job, but it's not expected to compete with the 4-figure high-line stuff. If I did get one, I'd most likely pick up the wide angle adapter too - that would make that lens especially useful with some true UWA range.

I tend to either keep my 18-55mm kit lens on my NEX3, or I keep my Konica Hexanon 40mm F1.8 prime on as a walkaround/carry lens. With the Konica adapter, the 40mm runs around the same size as the kit - a little smaller actually, and gives me F1.8 capability if I need it in low light.

Thanks Justin and Kat! I had the 5n briefly and still don't know why I got rid of it :confused3! I have an adapter which I used with my 50 f1.8 E series lens. This combo was smaller than the kit lens. I need to pick up an e-mount lens for the 7 and I'm torn between the 16 and 30 macro. I think the 16 fits more of the bill. I can say I have never anticipated camera equipment so much. I like the idea of more controls on the body than my D5100 in a smaller package. I also look forward to trying my Tamron 60 macro on this baby.
