I need to vent!! I signed a contract for SSR and then before the end of the recission period, I changed my mind. I really decided that I wanted to own at the Boardwalk. I let my guide know and I was put on the waiting list. Last Monday, I had a 500 dollar charge pending on my credit card, I assume this was disney taking the deposit and I would hear from my guide soon.

Well, this charge never posted and it disappeared this morning. However, in the meantime, I have read several instances on this board where people have been offered BWV contracts for first time buyers since I was put on the waiting list. I even had another guide tell me that points were available....

So, what is going on? I am going to give this until the 28th, and then I am going to forget the entire thing. This whole process is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. If I get offered points this week, with the ability to bank the 2004 points at 89, I will buy, If not, I am going to go with a resale contract.

My guide is nice but I feel I am not getting the whole story because what I hear directly from Disney and from these boards are so different. Anyone have any insight on this? I am going nuts....

I noticed on the other thread you are looking for any UY. Your guide should be able to look right while you're on the phone and tell you what is available. Probably can't tell you where you are on the waitlist (how many in front of you). When my called the other day to let me know my add on came available, she thought DVC was in the process of buying back others. But I have a feeling that is probably information that they don't know for sure until it happens.

If you don't think you are getting the best service from your Guide, you can always ask to be changed. We have had the same guide for the past seven years, and she is very helpful when ever I've called.

Good luck, don't lose the magic. I have added on several times, but I have not tried resales. I don't think I have the patience to sit and wait for ROFR. And I have always been happy just working with my guide.

First time buyers may be allowed to purchase other resorts through Disney, other than SSR...but it completely depends upon availability. Existing members may already be on a waiting list for add-ons there. Disney has to contact them, give them a few days to decide if they want to continue with the add-on, then move on to the next person on that list. They also may not have the number of points you want available in any single use year, for a sizeable contract at a sold out resort, I would definately look to the resale market.

I talked to someone at Disney this morning who has assured me that if my name was on the waitlist, there was no way that anyone else, not on the waitlist, could have gotten in front of me. So those who have been offered points at the boardwalk must have either been confused or would have been put on the waitlist to buy into DVC when the points were available. So now I don't know what to believe, except, only time will tell. I was told that points at the Boardwalk rarely come in and I was encouraged to buy at SSR. I give up.

Hi Tammy...hope your (wanted) use year is different from the contract I just submitted for ROFR....I want my BWV points to pass!!!
I think you should at least get on the 'waitlist' for resale BWV at the 3 major timeshare resellers. There are some good deals out there, although I fear that if many people waitlist with Disney that the good deals will all get bought up. Resale isn't hard: you sign a one page contract and it goes straight to ROFR and if it passes, it goes to a title committment closing company and one day, they call and you send them money. Pretty easy.

You are better off going re-sale route. After you backed out of your pending SSR contract I got a feeling they really do not want to give you the time for fear you will back out again.
