Hello all! I have been wanting to move to Orlando, like i am sure so many of you, for a while. I only lived 2 hours away but still needed to be CLOSER! So I am taking the plunge. I have no kids, single and said 'screw it' and moved. I have saved the past year and left my job a week ago and am moving next week. Many applications have been put in(including Disney!) and i have more than enough for 4 months. I just wanted to share this with some people who might get me, lol. My friends and family think I am crazy.

If any solo, or even non solo, people want to meet up when you come down, let me know!!

Awesome!!! Definitely jealous! I am in the saving phase now and hoping to in the next yr or yr and a half! Can never be close enough to Disney! Im sure nothing tying you down to where you lived made the choice much easier! I am sure it would be fun to hang when I go on my next trip!

live about an hour away and after visiting Kissimmee, and a few more towns - decided I would be close but not too close - lots of people who live near Disney actually seem to hate it. Guess being that close to anything that big can make feel small and not important?????? So live in an area north of WDW in lake county - where my neighbors love WDW almost as much as I do.

chose wisely - so you will still continue to love WDW.

Good for you!

I'm in Florida but I'm not giving up my beach... :sunny:

Nothing like pressing that reset button! Go for it and good luck!

Good for you! I am moving there too! I am in the midst of moving right now from Alabama to Georgia. The plan is to live with family in my hometown for about 5-6 months to save up and then head on down to Orlando this summer. Can't wait.

Good luck with everything!

Good luck & enjoy!!!

I love Disney, but from Venice/Sarasota so it's an easy drive. Not sure I could give up the beach & living by the coast for central FL.

Congrats, I'm not doing exactly the same thing but plan to be down end of feb to apt/house hunt and hope to move easter week. It's more for my daughter that wants to start a disney career but I work remote and it doesn't matter where I live so I keep my existing job and just change the scenery around me.

you are living my dream!

Good luck with your move. I sure wish I could do the same but I'm not complaining because I live 10-miles from Disneyland.

JEALOUS! My dream is to move anywhere in Florida, let alone Orlando! Good for you, and have a blast for all of us!

I did the exact same thing - but I moved from Minnesota. I'm 27, single, no kids, nothing holding me down, so I dropped everything I had in Minnesota and moved down here, simply for the reason to start my life over close to the places that I love most - Disney and Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I'm in Davenport, about half an hour from the Disney resort. I saved up money this past Fall and haven't had much luck getting a full time job. I work part time a restaurant in the area and I nanny for a friend's little boy every few days to help supplement the income. It works for now. It's worth it in the end. I'm down here because I'm around things that make me HAPPY! I wasn't happy in Minnesota - it was cold, snowy, boring, and I was stuck at a dead end with all of my jobs I had.

Bravo to you and OP! I moved around a ton in my 20s and 30s and relished the experience. While Orlando has never been on my list (as much as I love Disney, I loathe heat and humidity), I did live in my dream city of Manhattan for a long time (and Boston, Philadelphia and Seattle). I hope you have an awesome time!!!

Haha. The same here with the job. Just a couple of part timers things for now.

That's awesome!! Good luck!! I've been dreaming about doing just that (I'm from PA). But, my kids are still growing up (youngest is 10), so I have some time to go before I can make it a reality.

Good for you!! And, I hope all of your magical Disney dreams come true!!

This is what I long to do. I live far, far away (Oregon). I'm divorcing after 37 years with my husband. My kids are grown. I'm in my early 50's so have a lot of time to work still ahead of me. I have lived my whole life here in this town. I want so badly to go somewhere and start over. I read some of these threads and it makes me tingle with the possibility that I can. I love the Florida sunshine. Yes, I know it's humid. Yes, I know it's hot. But, it's cold and snowy here 8 months out of the year and we stay mostly indoors for the heater. So pretty sure I can stay indoors for the air conditioning there! I am a nurse, but not so sure I want to do that anymore, either. I'm frightened to just hit the road and move, but frightened to just stay here and never live my dreams either. I don't need much, just a condo in a safe area and a job to pay my bills including the cost of my annual pass!

It's inspiring to read your post and so glad to know some people have done it, and survived!
