I am the Disney nut in my house- even my kids make fun of me about it.

Well we planned this trip as a "once in a lifetime" event- the 4 night cruise and 4 days at WDW as our 10 year anniversary celebration. We saved up for 18 months to afford this trip. I really had to convince DH to book this cruise because of the expense. Well on the cruise DH kept saying- 'did you see the re-book on board deal? $200 and 10% off. Maybe we should do it now. 7 nights would be great...' also a lot of little comments like- 'next time we will do this or that' EXCUSE ME- NEXT TIME???

OK- I am glad he liked the cruise and all BUT this is a habit we can't afford.
Just thought you guys would think that is funny.

Keep DH hooked as long as you can even if you won't be cruising next year or the next, etc....Keep him addicted by viewing the two palm cam or the port cam so he can see the ships sail by....I think it's better to keep him addicted. Am glad to hear your family had a great time! :jumping3: :jumping3: :jumping3:

I too am the addict in my house. My DH is sold :faint: and I have taken on extra to afford this addiction. :charac2: My heart goes out to you. Good luck. We booked for 2006 last month while on the cruise. :cool1:

you should be flattered that he LOVED the DCL cruise you planned and saved for. my DH is hooked too. it took us 3 years to wait for our kids to grow old enough so we had 3 years of savings socked away. after this last DCL cruise, we're driven to save the same amount in 1 year! hee-hee!

But what a wonderfully, magical monster has been created! We have foiund DCL to be an addiction - I could give up chocolate easier than the Magic!

Looks like you created a monster!!! :earboy2:

I feel your pain.

We did a 4 night on the Wonder in November 2003. It was going to be our "only" DCL cruise. We did not rebook onboard, because we thought we'd never do another DCL cruise.

Then we got confirmation from our TA that DCL would be announcing on May 5th that the Magic was moving to CA. DH (for some unknown reason) is all gung-ho about going through the Panama Canal ... figured doing it on DCL would be "okay" so we tell our TA to book us when DCL opens up those dates on 05/05/2004.

Then it's announced that the 2004 pin cruise theme would be villains. DH advised me he'd cruise without me if necessary!!

So all of a sudden I go from "never cruising again" to cruising TWO MORE TIMES with DCL (4 nights last month, and 14 nights next August)!!!!

So I too have created a (rather expensive) monster and can feel your pain.

Oh, and when we were on the Wonder last month, guess who pushed for us to rebook while onboard?? Uh huh, DH. We booked a 7 night western caribbean for 2006 (we'll be moving it to 2007 or 2008 though).

Same thing happened to us. We did the land/sea almost four years ago as our "once in a life time vacation." We are now getting ready for our third Disney cruise. My husband feels "trapped" on other cruises but on Disney he is great. It is a wonderful thing to be addicted to.

DH was not "sold" pre-cruise and now all he can ask is whether they would just have 2 days at Castaway Cay on the 4 day or if the 7 day has multiple Cast Away stops he'll consider it. This from the person who was not interested in being on the cruise at all. Amazing

We took our "first ever" cruise in August 2003 with DCL just to see if we would like it. We were hooked before the 7 days were over. We rebooked onboard for August 2004 and now have a cruise planned for the DW and I two weeks from today. We also have another family cruise planned for August 2006, and double stop cruise at Castaway Cay!!! This is an addiction we truly enjoy!!!

The first cruise I booked, DH was not excited. I felt terrible b/c of the expense and he was dreading it. We had previously cruised Princess, but for whatever reason he thought the trip would be anything but relaxing. Same thing!! He wanted to rebook, which we did on board. Now, we are venturing out again and trying RCI next time. He loves dining and food on vacation. Cruises allow him to eat exotic meals without me tugging on his sleeve...."Don't you see how much that item is on the menu?" Or telling the kids they HAVE to order off the kid menu.

That's so funny! I had the exact same experience! We just returned from the 12/5/04 Wonder 4-night sailing which was a 10 year anniversary celebration as well as my daughter's 7th birthday. My DH also was not completely sold on the cruise, but we spent much of the last night on board looking for the "rebook" lady, who we couldn't find and so we decided we'd come home and work out the dates, etc. We all had a great time, but I think my DH had the best time of all -- he loved everything about it!! It was great for our family to get out at sea where cell phones don't work :cool1: since my DH is a bit of a workaholic and every other vacation we take, he spends much of it on the phone doing work! I think he loved it so much because it was the first vacation he's had that he really relaxed on. My kids loved everything and actually were so good the whole time (no fighting, etc. :Pinkbounc ) -- another reason my DH was so enthralled. Anyway, we'll definitely be going again -- gotta get through Christmas first, though!!

YES- that was it. Everywhere we go his phone is always going off like wild. He is ALWAYS connected and always working. When I saw the $15.00 charge for his sneaking off and getting an internet connection for a few work related emails- I didn't say a word because he was present with us the whole time other than that. It was great. He loved the cruise more than any of us. And yes- he has been talking about a 7 night with 2 staops at CC. He LOVED CC.
He has spent a lot of time in the Carribean for work (formerly employed as a nautical archaeologist) and he does a lot of scuba diving and snorkeling and he said the snorkeling at CC was the best he had ever seen.

Looks like Cheapmom is breakin' out the checkbook! :cool1:

My DH did the exact same thing!!! He snuck off (actually he told me he was going!) to hook up on the internet a couple of times and actually did make a $60 5-minute phone call! But, like you, I didn't complain at all -- it was the most family time we've had in a long time!!

My DH also adored CC -- as we all did -- and the thought of 2 stops would really be a big hit for him. He still talks about the adult only beach and how amazing it was (our kids were at the kids club on the beach, which they loved!). We had a blast doing the jetski tour also. I'm getting sad just thinking about how great it was!! Well, just need to plan that 7 day....

We took our July Land/ Sea as a "once in a lifetime" trip. We are now booked for next December for a 7 day. It is a definite addiction.
