This one is about Pre Selling... I have been reading another board and partaking in the disscusion on pre selling a collectable on ebay. Now that was about just one instance but it got me thinking... Should you be allowed to pre sell an item with out the guarantee that you will have this item. I mean if you have to go through an RSP to get it and you have an item up for sale before the results of the RSP are known for an item that is half to a quater of the amount of people signed up to go... Is that right?

And should you have to disclose the fact that you may not win this item if

a. the seller does not win it in the rsp
b. the seller is unable to trade for it
c. the item cost the seller more than he/she sold it for

What do all you collectors think?

This is just an open question and not pointed at anyone. Think of this as a generic item in a generic event.

I've looked at those types of auctions and always wondered why they are allowed, or what guidelines an auction site has for these pre-sales.

My opinion: I don't think you should be permitted to list something for which you have not already received RSP confirmation that you have the item assigned to you.

My Thoughts.

Its the seller's responsibility to provide the item to the buyer in the time frame specified in the auction, or agreed to between the two parties. So, if a seller wishes to pre-sell, its there risk. According to Ebay the seller side of the contract is to provide the item purchase to the buyer. If they don't get it in the RSP, they can say sorry I didn't get the item and should therefore get a negative feedback, or they could buy it from someone else to then make good on their auction.

I have seen Disney remove auctions, but I think this is issue in on the side of the seller buyer agreement, so Ebay will let it go.

I don't have a problem with it, personally, but I also wouldn't buy or bid on one of these types of auctions.

The pre-sell issue is a tough one.. Now look at the 999 Haunts Ball Master Gracey pin was on the RSP as a LE 100 and when people showed up today found it was a LE 250..
This pin was pre sold on a auction site as a LE 100 but is actually a LE 250..
Does this make the seller running a fraudulant auction because Disney changed thier mind on the LE size??
In this case pre sales are not a good thing.

In light of the Master Gracey pin and the Epcot Event Walt with Figment pin.....I have to agree with Nat and Larry.

I personally would not list one, nor would I bid on one.
