I have always wondered . . .

I don't remember Indy going all the way back to Small World, but I do remember it going up Main Street, then back down Main Street & going back & forth in Frontierland. I am pretty sure I stood in line for four hours with my friend back when it first opened. What can I say... we were Disney geeks.

We went to DCA on the AP preview, and I believe we were in line for Soaring for over two hours... in the heat.

Rocket Rods -- there were a couple of times my kids wanted to wait in line, and we waited a good two hours those times.

Today -- don't think I'd do it anymore (though I'm sure my daughter would).

When Indy was first opened it was billed as the most expensive, most elaborate, highest technically involved effects ride built anywhere in the world. We went I believe the first week it was open. When we saw the line stretching back to Small World the CM's were reporting wait times of 4 1/2 hours.

I am surprised that the current line does not spill into Adventureland badly on any busy day. For the past several years I've noticed they no longer que people inside the building (same with Space). The outside que area up against Jungle is often empty as well even though the standby line says 60 minutes. Where are all the people standing?? I don't know because we've always used FP's.

I always see folks lined up in the outside que but once you get inside you almost have to run to keep others from passing by you. Brisk walk indeed! The line has always moved fast for me once inside and it seems like stop and go traffic outside. Not sure what the deal is??:confused3

OK, I need to know, from those who have said they won't wait longer than 20 or 30 minutes, how do you ever go on any rides? I have been in short lines before, but that was back when we were able to go at times with very low crowd levels - now that the kids are in school, it's only peak season for us. If I refused to wait in a line longer than 20 minutes, I'd never ride anything! (Not having FPs for TSMM is a killer with a 4 and 5 year old - and a DH.) ;)

Since I live in San Diego, we take one day off school each year and go mid-week. We do homework in the car. I don't go during testing time or anything else important. To me it is worth it.

According to Yesterland (I can't put up a link since my post count is low), it looks like they were only around May 1998 - September 2000.

It would be fun to see how much of the time they were "available" were they actually "open"....seems like they were down for some problem or another everytime we went....never did get on them, but sounds like we didn't miss much! LOL.

Indy to IASW? :faint:

The longest we have waited is for Matterhorn, 60 minutes. Insane, I know.

We typically plan our vacations around peak times. Avoiding the summer time almost completely. But even on busy days we just collect FP's for the day and ride only rides like Buzz, Pirates, HM, California Screamin' (That line is never TOO bad) and at the end of the day when we have 3-4 passes for the big rides like Space, Indy and Soarin'. It works out well for us as long as we try to stick with a plan. We also go early in the morning to ride the big rides a few times before it's too crowded. We will be there this memorial weekend, not sure how that's going to work out for us! :scared1:

Standing in that long of a line sounds ridiculous, but when you are coming from a long way a way (like Canada for instance), and there is a ride you don't want to miss, then we will suffer in a line.

The last time I went was before fastpasses in 1996, so back then we didn't have a choice but to wait for 2 hours to ride Splash Mountain. That was a ride we NEEDED to do!

Who gets in a 3 hour long line? Or even a 2 hour long line? We were at DLR the week Nemo Subs reopened in 2007, and the lines were consistently 3+ hours. From time to time on various trips we have seen other lines that were nearly as long. (Don't even get me started on WDW.)

Raise your hand if you would get in a line that is already 2+ hours.

<sitting on my hands>

Not I.
