I have always hated Biergarten after having a dismal experience there about 5 years ago. Well, this past Friday I was in EPCOT and trying to decide what to eat since my favorite restaurant is no more......atleast no more buffet (Akershus).

I love ethnic food and decided to give Marrakesh a try. We put our names in and 30 minutes later they still had not called us so my Dad recommends we head over and give Biergarten a try!

After much soul searching......I reluctantly agree. We arrive and are promptly seated. I make my way to the buffet and I am truly amazed! I was expecting just sausage and saurkraut.....I was so wrong!

I tried their salads first......they were HEAVENLY! The tomato salad is tangy with crisp onions and bell peppers, the potato salad had the perfect blend of mustard, mayo, onions and scallions and the cucumber salad was divine! :goodvibes There was some slaw that was made with vinegar and caraway seeds....so different and SO GOOD! There was also a platter of cold cheeses and meats....the kids loved that.

Next I tried the hot foods. I tried the pork tenderloin first.....OMG! I am in love! The pork was melt in your mouth tender and full of flavor......there was a huge bowl of gravy next to it.....YOU MUST TRY THIS GRAVY!!!!!! It was out of this world.....it was thick and rich and tasted to be made from wine. The pork knuckles with saurkraut is not to be missed either.....very tender and good. The meatballs were a big hit with the kids, as were the chicken fingers and roasted chicken. There was mashed potatoes, red cabbage, glazed baby carrots, green beans and pan seared roasted potatoes.

There was also many great sausages but I was too much in love with the pork tenderloin to give them more than a passing bite. :p

They had the usual kid's fare.....mac and cheese, hot dogs and pizza.

For dessert I somehow managed to hold apple streusal covered in vanilla sauce and a piece of chocolate cake......mmmmmmmmm....so good!

The Biergarten is truly a symphony for your taste buds.....it is my new favorite restaurant!!!! :goodvibes :wave2:

Wow, Biergarten sounds fantastic! :teeth: Thanks so much for the review! :flower: I really want to try Biergarten on our next trip since I love salads and wasn't sure if it would fit into our itinerary. But after looking at my itinerary again, I'm positive I'll be able to eat at Biergarten!

Thanks for a great review tiggersmom2. A lot of people will give the Biergarten poor reviews - mainly because they are not all that familiar with German cuisine. Heavier on sauces, game and sausage it's not everyone's "cup of tea" (oops, slipped over into another favorite, the Rose and Crown). You've got my mouth watering for our next trip in November. Oh no, the Biergarten and the Food and Wine Festival - I'm in big trouble :rolleyes1 !

Wow, thanks for for the review! This sounds right up my alley! I LOVE ethnic food...I really liked how Akershus USED to be...and I love Marrakesh, too. So next trip..I will try Biergaten for sure! Thanks!

We ate at Biergarten a week ago and found the food to be quite excellent. We ate at lunch so some of the menu choices were not available at lunch time, but nonetheless, the food was good and plentiful and we enjoyed the experience immensely.

I would suggest anyone booking for a lunch seating to do so after 1:30 as the band does not start playing until then and it adds so much to the ambience. :flower:

Thanks for the great review on the Biergarten. It's one of our favorite restaurants. I hope you had a beer to wash it all down. :)

We loved Biergarten!!! I was afraid to try it with all the bad reviews I heard, but dh really wanted to eat there. I'm so glad we did!!!

Thanks for the review. I wouldn't have considered the Biergarten due to our bad experience several years ago. I found the wait staff rude and the food mediocre. I do miss Akershus however and I am happy to hear about another alternative and quicker seating that we also enjoyed at Akershus. What was the cost for lunch?

Thanks for the review.

I'd really like to eat here on our next trip.

DD does not eat meat - but does eat fish.... are there suitable dishes for non-meateaters?

Thanks again

Ang :teeth:

The cost for lunch was $15.99 for adults and $7.99 for the kids. VERY cheap! :) I had the same experience years ago and SWORE I would never go back......but trust me......this is an awesome buffet, from one former Akershus lover to another! :wave2:

There is a fish dish here for Dinner and LOTS more selections. The salad selection is HUGE and varied. I left a lot of them out b/c I couldn't try them all! I would think a vegetarian could be very happy here. :)

You know, we've never gone because I don't care for German food but it sounds like it's more than the stereotypical German foods (brats and such). We'll have to give it a try next time ;)

glad to hear it was so good. We have a PS fojr June for dinner. We love this type of dinner always eat at the one in Busch Gardens and can't wait for Epcot. :flower:

Thanks for the great review...I was reluctant to try this because DH and DD aren't crazy for german food but it sounds like it has something for everybody!
We are going in OCT...does anyone know if they do anything different for Oktoberfest? :earboy2: :cool1: :earboy2: :cool1:

interesting review. it has always got bashed in the past. might consider a lunch there when I go in a few weeks...
omg did I say a few weeks...............feel like I have been waiting forever...

if we go, will definitely write a review...

Thank you so much for the review! I had this on our alternate list for our trip at the beginning of next year-butI might have to move it up to the must do list! thanks for the tip to the person who suggested ging after 1:30-we do want to see the entertainment! Also, I am not huge on brats and stuff- went to Germany when I was in jr high and bit into a sausage that tasted like soap! YUCK! Can anyone tell me what the sausages/brats there are like (americanized?) and how the chicken schnitzel is?? What about the spaetzel? THANKS!

If you haven't tried Biergarten, GO!!! It's GREAT!!! When we were leaving my DD10 and 8 said it was the best EVER!!! They actually found things to eat besides mac and cheese and chicken fingers!! They had a BALL dancing down on the floor!

My older two dd's 16 and 14 put a spin on the "Ticky Tocky chant" (I think that's what they're saying?!?)

Their version is: Ticky Tocky, Ticky Tocky BOYS! BOYS! BOYS!! They found a young male waiter to look at so they were happy, too!! My guess is that we'll be going again next time!! :rotfl2:

Glad to read a good review of the Biergarten, too.... we're headed there TOMORROW actually! Leaving for WDW at 6 this morning!
