Cancel your present reservations. Keep the confirmation number for this reservation. Go to Ding and make your reservation using the credit from your first reservation.

in order to take advantage of the new Ding fare, you will need to first cancel your original reservation...this is what I usually do ~

1) pull up the Ding window and select your flights all the way up to the payment window

2) open a second window and go to travel center and select "cancel flight"

3) enter your original reservation confirmation number and name of person that paid with a cc

4) before you go ahead cancel the first reservation, go back to the Ding window and verify that all your seats are still available. Sometimes they can sell out while you are doing the other steps

5)if your Ding fares are still available, go back to the cancel window and cancel the first reservation

6) quickly go to the Ding window and where it says "pay with Ticketless Travel Funds", enter in the confirmation number and name of person that paid with a cc from the first reservation that you just cancelled. You will still need to enter the cc info and names of passengers, but nothing should be charged to your cc.

7) SW will apply the credit from the cancelled reservation and the difference will be available as ticketless travel funds for another trip.

HTH

I would have 2 screens going at once just in case....make the ressies in the first one, fill in all the info. Go into the second screen, quickly cancel and go back :thumbsup2

I used the 2 screen method for my ding fare for my trip last week. The fare dropped from $177 to $107, the $70 is in ticketless funds for a future flight.

Can you not use the change/modify reservation? I know I did it when my rate changed, but it wasn't a DING rate.

No, with a DING you have to cancel and re-book the DING rate. I use the 2 window method like the others.

I am reading this site and you all continue to talk about "ding" is this a discount??

Ding is a program you can download from Southwest. It sits on your desktop and several times a day (usually) a special will pop up for airfare. You can only access this special through the Ding pop up window. You specify which airports you are interested in (up to 10). You click on the window when it pops up and it will show you which airports and dates are having the specials. It's a great thing to have ~ often times they offer a very discounted fare ~ other times, not so discounted. Last August I booked round trip air from PVD - MCO through Ding for $105 all taxes included.
