OK, DH and I were talking today, and we decided that while we'd like to "upgrade" to the GF, that we really can't "justify" the price. SO, we were "what if" ing........... so here's my question to anyone who may know, I'd like to get a general idea, just in case, so I don't sound like a fool if I should "need" to call CRO.

OK, we have paid for our trip, in full. We booked the MYW plan with dining. We have up until the 45 day mark to make any changes without penalty, AFTER the 45 day mark, we will be charged a fee for any changes, if I understand what the cm told me correctly. OK, lets say, they offer the "free" dining for the first of the year......... now, our 45 day mark is Dec. 15th.......... let's say the offer comes out after that, say Dec. 16th or later............. should that happen, there is NO question, we'd want to change over to the GF, since we'd be able to do it with the savings......... would we still be charged a fee to change our ressie??? I would think that if you are "upgrading" your resort, that they wouldn't charge you......... DH says, they probably will still charge a fee............ does anyone know???

I realize that this is complete speculation, as there has been NO mention of the free dining being offered, I'm just wondering. I appreciate it if everyone who replies know's that this is just a "what if" situation, and that I am NOT implying in any way that the plan is being extended. Basically, I'm wanting to know if there are any situations, where you wouldn't be charged the fee, should something come up AFTER the 45 day mark.

Thanks everyone!!!!

I'd count on them charging the fee. I don't think upgrading the hotel would be a factor in that, and if you were to get the free dining, it wouldn't really be more money in Disney's pocket, would it? You could call CRO and simplify your question to find out. Just tell them you're kicking around the idea of upgrading the resort and ask if you'd still be charged the fee if you do that after the 45 day mark. The fee, though, is probably more about keeping people from constantly changing their ressies which allows Disney to fill the rooms more efficiently.

I have a similar situation that I called CRO about last night. We were booked at Pop for Sept 23 - Oct. 1. A week before our 45 day mark, we found out DH may be losing his job due to cutbacks and a merger. We decided to err on the side of caution and changed our trip to 4 nights base tickets only with the free dining plan and bumped the trip up to Sept 10th. We would have cancelled all together but I would have lost almost $400 in airline tickets, we don't fly much at all so couldn't see losing this much money. Ok, ressies changed already rec'd the refund. (We had prepayed the entire trip) Well dh gets a call yesterday that pretty much says he isn't one losing his job. So we have decided that as soon as the "official" announcement is made, we would like to extend our vacation again. So I called CRO last night and "Norman" told me that Disney would not charge the fee to extend our vacation. They only charge the fee if you lessen your package amount within that time frame. He said I could extend it up to 24 hrs in advance as long as their was availability and that since I was on the free dining package, that we would also get the free dining for the add on days. He said as long as my package total stayed the same or went up Disney would not charge a fee. Made sense to me, because I'm already giving them more money by adding on. So we plan to wait until a few days ahead of time (we should know all the facts about dh's job by then) and then call to add on the number of days we want.

I know it isn't exactly the same as your question, but I would think it would still apply. The only reason I would see them saying no would be because you would change resorts. I would call CRO and just ask. "Norman" was very nice and helpful last night when I called. Good Luck to you and enjoy your trip!

When we made out reservations for the ASMu we were told the same thing, that a fee would be charged if any changes were made. About two weeks before out arrival date DM called and changed our resort to Pop, and we weren't charged any kind of fee. I think the fee may have more to do with lessening your days or changing your dates, as mentioned above.

I hope I understand your "What if..." :)

The other person was correct. If you change anything within 45 days, the fee is waived if your price stays the same or increases. It will all depend on if the Grand Floridian has availability at the point your hypothetical change occurs.

As others have said, Disney will never charge a change fee if your new ressie is at least as much money as your old ressie. If, however, your new ressie is less money you will have to pay the penalty.

I was told a different version by a CM.

I booked through AAA for our end of Aug stay, because of the sales from SW, I decided to extend one more day, hence I called CRO directly on a weekend. Obviously the CM could not extend the package for me because I booked through AAA, I then asked him "what if" I booked directly, he told me that if he were to extend for me he would charge me $10 because I was within the 45 days period.

Anyway, on the following day when I called AAA, my TA was able to extend for me without additional charges, however, I was assuming that it was because I have to remind him that I had not paid the balance before the 45 days mark.

Hey Wendypooh! Great to see you on these boards. Haven't seen you post in a while! Have fun on your WDW vacation!

There is a $10 processing fee if they have to reissue documents. But that doesn't happpen until after the 45 day mark and only occurs if they need to issue new airline tix or something similar. If you have transportation vouchers, they are usually valid for a 30 day period, so unless your vacation is changed 30 days either way, you are not charged that $10. The usually don't charge it, anyways, but that is the policy. Also, if that does occur, I think you have to send the originals back before they reissue them, seeing as 30 days is usually enough time to do so.

Also, by adding a day you're price increased, so that charge would've been waived anyways.

Thanks everyone ~~ In our case, if we did change anything, it would just be upgrading the resort, we are driving, so no airline or anything. I just wanted to know what I could expect should they decide to extend the dining. I'm NOT counting on them doing it........ I'm just thinking WAAAAY ahead. LOL

What did you mean by transportation voucher? Is it the old policy in the pre-ME days? What I had asked the CM was for my coming trip, there is no transportation voucher involved.

I don't know what they meant either by transportation voucher...... I assumed they meant ME, which we won't be using since we are driving. But, I too didn't think it was a "voucher" anymore............ ???? Maybe they will come back and clarify.

Again, Thanks to all who posted.
