I have a Walmart Question

Maybe I've been living in a cave, but thought I'd ask. I ran into Walmart tonight to grab a couple things and specifically a Time and Newsweek magazine. I searched all around and couldn't find them, so I asked someone working there and they said that the store didn't carry them. I mean, they have everything from LowRider to Bridal to Photography magazines, I just thought these would fall in a pretty standard "news" magazine category. I walked all the registers too, but it was just the usual gossip and girly mags. Is this "normal" or just this store or what?? Did I miss some Walmart news that they don't carry news magazines?

As much as I love Walmart - The demographics team probably doesn't think its customers are intelligent enough for Newsweek and Time; and all we would want to read are tabloids.

Well, they have crafts, hobbies, kids books and magazines, health, puzzles, etc. Not only tabloids.
The thing is that tabloids sales are huge!!

I don't waste my $$$ on tabloids.

Censorship. Walmart picks and chooses which magazines, CD's, etc. it wishes to carry on it's shelves.

I knew about the CD thing and I had heard the Maxim, FHM issue last year or whatever, but I had no idea news magazines weren't sold there. Wow.

Yup. They want to make sure that our children don't see any covers of Cosmo. Gawd forbid that they read "Ten secrets to multiple orgasms" or something immoral like that.

Censorship. Walmart picks and chooses which magazines, CD's, etc. it wishes to carry on it's shelves.

Although they have been known to censor - this one is about money. If you don't sell to Walmart at a price they like, they will not carry the product.

I head WalMart doesn't carry CD's with the parental warning label....yet they carry R-rated movies.
