Hello!! I am in the process of finalizing all of our ADR,s for our next trip. We will be there Dec.31-Jan. 8th. The only two days I don't have anything booked for is Sat. Jan6/Sun. Jan7th. I know the marathon is that weekend and last year certain parks were virtually inaccesable once the run started. Does anyone know what time and where the race is? thanks so much! I just don't want to book something to find I can't even get to the park!! Last year I felt so bad for this family they said they had been at the bus stop for 1 hour and never had a bus for where they were going. When we got on our bus the driver siad the park they wanted wasn't sending any buses right then becuase of all the traffic and such.

We have been there many times during the marathon and have never felt like things were inacessible because of the race. The only issue we have ever had is that on the day of the half marathon (Saturday), they closed some streets last year, and we couldn't get to the car center to pick up a rental car in time. We have NEVER had issues in the parks themselves.

We were there last year during the marathon, in 2 studios at BWV (one for us, one for our DD and her DBF), and none of us felt inconvenienced at all. Maybe we were just lucky. :confused3
I can't remember specific restaurants, other than R & C, Chefs, Boma, Brown Derby, and a couple of others (the ADR's have "blended" in my mind with our May trip :rotfl: ). We had some ADR's made pre-trip, but some were made either each day, or only one day beforehand. :)

I just wouldn't plan anything at the MK or the MK resorts for first thing in the AM. It gets a bit congested around there. By 9 or 10, it should be cleared out of the MK area.

The race starts at EPCOT at 6am. Runners have to be clear of the MK by 9am, AK by 11am, MGM by 12:30 and finish by 1pm (finish is also at EPCOT, where things are a bit crazy for some time after the race - but not unaccessable.)

The Half Marathon is on Sat AM starting at 6AM. You have 3.5 hours to complete the race. Goes from Epcot to MK and back to Epcot.

The Marathon is on Sun AM starting at 6AM. You have 7 hours to complete the race. Goes from Epcot to MK to AK to WWoS to Disney Studios and back to Epcot.

The beginning of race is much more congested than the end. The runners start to spread out as the race continues. The fastest Half marathoners get done in about 1 H 10M. The fastest Marathoners get done in about 2H 10M.

MK is probably the hardest park to get to on these two mornings.
