In all of your opinions professional or otherwise, I need some help.
We are going to Disney Jan. 2 - Jan. 8 and staying at the FW resort. So with that in mind it will be myself, my wife, her mother, and our 4 children ages 9, 5, 3, and 12 weeks old.

Here are my questions:

1) Are there any water activities anywhere at Disney this time of year? We are not going to any of the water parks, but how about swimming?

2) My boy, (the 5year-old) just broke his right arm this past weekend. Will he suffer in anyway at Disney besides swimming? Are there any rules about not being able to go on rides or anything else I'm not thinking of?

Thank You all in advance,
-D&M

First of all - WELCOME!!!

I don't know of any rides that your son will have to skip due to a broken arm as long as he's comfortable. There are a few water rides that he may want to skip to avoid the cast getting wet.

As far as water activities in Jan. I think the pools will be open, I'm not sure if they're heated or not, we've never been in Jan. There are 2 water parks in WDW one is Blizzard Beach and the other is Typhoon Lagoon. According to www.allearsnet.com , Blizzard Beach is closed during the Winter months and Typhoon Lagoon closes for 1 month during the winter. Go to www.allearsnet.com , then "beyond theme parks", then click on both water parks for info.

Have a great trip!!!

yes, the swimming pools at FW are heated. As far as the broken arm is concerned, my BIL had this problem at Kings Dominion just last weekend. My sister wrapped his entire cast in saran wrap to keep it dry on water rides. Worked great. He was able to get on any ride he chose. Hope the same holds true in Disney for your son.

Check out the "Camping at Disney" thread for more hints and info.

oh, and Welcome!

The first time I went to Disney was the summer after 5th grade. (WoW!! Long time ago! :rotfl: ) Anyhow, I had a cast on my arm and I couldn't go deep in the water, but I still could ride the water rides. My mom wrapped saran wrap on my arm then she wrapped a towel around that and then she put a bread bag (from a long loaf of bread) over that and put rubber bands up at the top around the elbow just to be sure water didn't seep down into the cast. My arm weighed about 10 lbs. but I could still play in the water at the pool. :thumbsup2

If you are doing the MYW package, the water parks should be included free during your stay. We love January but have never done a water park due to cool weather. This year with the free passes we hope to get a warm afternoon and give it a try. Not sure I would do that with a 12 week old but perhaps divide up the kids and one parent and the older ones give it a shot.
