HI,I sent an e-mail to the owner of a vacation home the other day about availability. Now,they got back to me really quick but their Terms did not coincide with the Terms on their own website.
The e-mail stated that it was $350 down to book the home and $180 Security deposit. On their own website the terms state $150 down and $150 security deposit. Now why did the homeowner change their own terms? Just Curious.

I would question them about it. I have rented 2 homes in the past year, and both were true to what the website said.

Hello, is it possible that they ask for one night stay as deposit and the web site quotes a low season and you booked during a higher rate season?....

That is about the only thing I can think of as an owner other than they just forgot to update their site.
Does the site explain the policy for deposit or just list a dollar figure?
For example, we ask for "one night stay plus tax."This amount can vary with the seasonal rates.
If you don't get a good answer there are a lot of fish in the sea when it comes to rental homes around Disney......Good Luck...Ted

I agree. I would clarify terms first and check references. I had booked a house with a company that turned out to have some not so good recommendations for our last trip. I was too emb. to ask for advice on the boards here but ended up doing so. I am so glad I did because more than likely I would have gotten there at Christmas and had no place to stay. Most renters are reputable but I am very leary now and check everything out before I book. Good luck.

Hi,I did not book that home.I wasn't happy about the fact that they wanted 50% of the total cost down as a booking deposit.
I have now narrowed it down to 2 homes and the owners are great about answering my questions.I also e-mailed them and asked for deposit/security to reserve and they were right on with their own websites.I feel positive either house would be a good choice.
I posted another question on this site about Thousand Oaks and Lake Berkley. We really like both houses but since we are looking for peace and relaxation we have decided on the more quiet/secluded of the two.And so we are going with house in Thousand Oaks. They have a lake there with alligators in it and I read fishing/boating was allowed.I think I'll pass...Anyway the house is over 3500 square feet and has very nice furnishings.
Thank you to all who posted a reply. It was just something I had not run into before.
