I have a question about DME...

DF and I are traveling to WDW in December for our wedding, this time with BOTH sets of parents... DF's father is in a wheelchair, so we are having a limo meeting us at the airport to take us to the GF....

My question is, can I still have my luggage sent to the resort with the Magical Express? Do I have to check in to the counter to do this? What has everyone else done? We will have lots of luggage (my wedding dress will of course be a carry on)....

I don't know for sure... my guess would be if you told them you planned to use the DME and got tags, that the bags would still be delivered whether you actually went on the bus or not...on the other hand, I don't know... they might assume you aren't there if you haven't checked into the desk for the magical express. I know it's a lot of luggage, but the limos usually have pretty huge trunks... based on what I've heard about how long it takes luggage to the resorts, I'd try to take as much as possible with me (we actually waited for our bags and took them on the bus, as we had things we wanted to be able to get to right away).

Sorry but NO some one has to be on the bus for the bags to be released.

It's all barcoded and when you get scanned onto the bus the bags get released to the resort. A simple check-in at the desk is not enough.

We split up on our June trip the gals took the bus (Me took the bags) and us guys went and got a rental van with no bags.

On our last trip some of our bags were getting off the truck as we pulled up on the bus and were in the room an hour later at 10:00am.

tmt is correct. I actually called DME ... twice ... to ask this question in the past.

It also says in all the available WDW literature that DME is specifically NOT a baggage-only service.
