I have a question about a digital camera...Dan maybe you can help.

Depending on the printer, it shouldn't use up color cartridges that fast. I have an HP 930C and it probably prints 150-200 sheets of photos (figure on average 3-4 photos per page) before we have to replace the cartridge. I would highly recommend good quality photo paper -- you'll notice a big difference with good paper.

WebmasterAlex recently posted a link to a couple of sites where you can send your digital photos to have prints made. I take my to the local camera shop where they charge $.39 for each 4x6 print. Does anyone remember the sites?

If you decide to print them on your own, be forwarned that your photos may fade over time. I have found that HP ink doesn't stand up to light very well.

Just stopping by to agree with all the above, Beth. I too use a reader, like the top one in MJ's picture above. Works great.

I usually upload my prints to Shutterfly or Ofoto to get prints made. I've heard that Walmart does a pretty good job as well. I'm a little nervous about the ones you print yourself. I'm afraid they would fade.

I also have a card reader and love it. I'm getting ready to shop for one for my mother. She's getting a new digital camera and I just think it makes things much easier.

You do need to research the printer and what they project the longevity of prints are.

It depends on the paper and the ink used.

My Epson printer on matte paper predicts 70 years... provided you don't hang the picture in direct sun light.

Now, how they simulate 70 years of life in their tests baffles me a little.

Do they put it under a sun lamp 24/7 for several months?

Also, I highly recommend using the printer paper that is designed for your printer. The ink is best designed to be used on their own paper.

I love mine I actually have no idea where the cord is to my camera!!!. Towncrier I swear I've seen a card reader at best buy for the Xd cards, It rings a bell b/c when I saw it I thought of you.
