My kitty got a hold of my cord that connects my digital camera to my computer and chewed it in half. So I went to Wal-Mart and they didn't have one. Is this something I should be able to buy over the counter or will I have to buy it from the company or am I out of luck and just need a new camera???

All the cords they had at W.M. had much bigger ends then this had.

What type of digital camera? You may have to go back to the camera's manufacturer and order a cable.

<font color=navy>Beth,

If you use a card like Compact Flash or Smart Media now would be a good time to get a card reader (like a Sansdisk reader) for about $30 or so. I don't even hook up my camera to my computer because I can transfer the pics so much easier using the reader.

Good luck on getting a cord, though. (did you try getting one from the same place you got the camera?)

Okay Mary Jo you lost me....but thats okay , its not hard to do...lol! I have heard of the cards but don't know if my camera could use one. Its a Polaroid PDC700 and I got it from Wal-Mart about 2 years ago I think. Lets see...when I open one side there are 4 places and they say...USB, Digital, OCIN7V and Video Out.....on the other side is where I put my memory card. So....what does that mean???? I am so technically challenged!!

Okay Steve you know I did have to figure out how to POP it out...lol....It is 128MB Butterfly Group Compact Flash Card....now I'm going to look at your link! I'm hoping that this is easy to use right??

So you plug this into the camera and it transfers the pics to the card then you pull the card out and plug it into your computer? That would be wonderful and its not expensive either....and my cat can't chew it

You plug the card reader into a USB port and then put the memory card into the reader. It acts just like another disk drive. :)

<font color=navy>Beth- when you take the pictures on the camera, they are recorded on the card.

Pop the card out of the camera, pop it into the reader, and transfer to the computer...

I'll explain in the next post

I think my compact flash card reader was $19.99 at Best Buy. I have never used the cord to hook up the camera. This is easier and does not drain the batteries:D !
I am going to take my card to Walmart and pop it in their machine and get some prints. Have you done that Beauty? Can be done at the one hour place. You upload, then they print what you choose. :D .29 a piece. Another good reason to learn to take the card out!;)

This sounds great! Thank you both so so much!! Seems like a trip to Office Depot is on for tonight! Although just a teeny part of me was hoping yall would tell me I had no hope and really did need a new digital camera

No I haven't done that!!!! I didn't know you could do that...I told yall I'm so technically challenged! I have some wonderful Disney pics on my memory card and thought to get prints I would have to upload them all and send them off online.....This is great!! Wow I'm learning bundles today!

<font color=navy>Okay, this is similar to my card reader (mine is a Sansdisk):

Just like any accessory to the computer, you need to load the software. Once you load the software for the card reader, you can plug your reader into the USB port (that is the one plug on the computer that will fit the cord). You then insert your compact flash (make sure you get a reader that reads Compact Flash cards) and open the window for the reader, either by:

going to My Computer, and double-clicking on the drive (probably E: ) to open

opening My Explorer, which will show all the folders, and then opening the folder for your reader

in XP, opening up any folder, and clicking on the folders view (which is similar to My Explorer)

Then, you can select all the pictures and drag them to a folder (usually My Pictures, which is in My Documents)

I have not done the prints either, but checked out the machine and process this week. I plan to do next week, I hope it is as easy as I said :p ! I hear Sam's Club and other places do this too. I just like that I can handle the card and choose what I want and get them in 1 hour!
You must get a card reader. Mine is different looking than Mary Jo's. I am technically challenged, can't even post a picture on this board. BUT, I can upload my pictures on that thingie!

...or you can just get a new digital camera...

...along with the card reader! :teeth:

well that sounds easy enough although I do like Steve's idea better but don't think DH would go along with it...although he should after the money he spent on the clearance Camo yesterday at Wal-Mart! Well I'm off to Office Depot tonight will let you know!!

Thanks again you guys!! I can't wait to try that at Wal-Mart too!!

Wow! I had no idea all of this was even out there! Okay another question...I'm living in the computer ice age I guess......If you are going to print pictures off of you Digital Camera on your printer is there now something cheaper than buying tons of color cartridges?? I've seen the photo paper but figured that it would take tons of cartridges to print pictures.....
