I have a little story to tell.....I purchased a horse for my daughter 1 week ago, this horse was not the one I origionally had intended to buy for her however upon veterinary inspection of the initially horse it was found to be "unsound" (meaning lame in this case)...this forced me to switch gears a little and so begins my tale....
I called my stable owner and informed her of my situation. I was upset about the outcome and was now without a horse. She assured me that ther were other animals available that were just as suitable and she would assist me in finding one. As we talked I mentioned to her that I had always had a keen interest in one horse in the barn....a black and white "paint" mare by the name of "Destiny". The stable owner was also the owner of this horse and had purchased her as a foal, raised her and was actually looking for a suitable owner for her. She was very attached and would not let her go to just anyone I was told. I asked her if I could take a closer look at her seeing as I had really only ever admired her from afar. She invited me out to take a closer look.
I went out with my husband and we were immediately smitten...she was beautiful. I asked the stable owner why the name "Destiny" and she told me that following the break up of her marriage she found this foal and felt that she was destined to have her since her husband would not. We had a chuckle and then she said "You know what else I always liked about her....she has Mickey mouse on her side....look" she swung her around.....and there it was!!! Mickey's profile on her side. Our jaws dropped.....we had just purchased our DVC at Saratoga Springs and had joked that all we were missing was the horse. I turned to the stable owner and said that the name "Destiny" had taken on even more meaning now!!!
My husband looked at me....I looked at him...and we ran for the cheque book!!The ironic thing is that this particular horse had been in my plain view for the last year and I had never noticed this marking. It was obvious to us that it was "Destiny" that we should have her and she was destined to have us!!
Her registration papers even state....left side Mickey mouse pattern.
I drove my girlfriend past her the other day and didn't mention a thing...we were about half a km away when she spotted her grazing in the front pasture. As we got closer she exclaimed "your horse has Mickey's head on her side!!!" she was a shocked as I was when I first saw it...Destiny that's what it is!!!
That's my story....
Bye for now!!!
