Heh, heh, heh. I just BET they find something "wrong"....Papa Deuce said:ACtually this one is a free evaluation of trees, plants, and shrubs on my property.
I use another service for my lawn and they try to get me to buy additional services every year. One time they called to tell me that I had insects in my trees and I could have them spray the trees (for additional cost).
There is no way they were out to look at the trees - my wife is home most of the time during the summer and she would have seen them. They later admitted they were just "guessing".
That's not to say what they tell you is wrong, just have your eyes open. Sometimes they are right, especially if you get a guy who knows his stuff.
Some of the national lawn services buy up smaller firms and bring them under their name, so they have a mix of guys who are really good at what they do and others who are just passing through.
The guy who does my lawn is pretty good and my lawn looks good - 2 acres of grass and not a dandelion in sight.
Every year they try to sell me a grub control treatment and I always say no - last year I stepped in it - I said no and got hit with grubs really bad and they killed almost a quarter acre of my grass. Now I get the grub treatment, even though it is extra (which leads to the question - why is treating for a pest that can kill your whole lawn an "extra" treatment....).
