I have a different spin on the DDE/FDP question....

Hello fellow DISers!!!!

I am doing the FDP in Oct at HBD. I am really looking forward to trying this restaurant for the first time as I have heard great things about it!

Ok, I know that they "officially" do not take the DDE card. I plan on asking the CM serving us politely, but I will not fight it if I am told no.

BUT...I am sure DH and I will have som cocktails before dinner...maybe two each. I would like to use the DDE card for those. Should I ask for the drinks to be rung up on a separate check? I don't want to seem like I cheapo, but we are going to be at WDW for a week and every bit of savings helps, ya know?

Maybe I should just ask before ordering if they will accept the DDE. If the answer is no, I will ask for the drinks on a separate check. The thing is, I usually would like to ask something like that at the end of the meal, because my DH, DD and I are such charming and polite guests...I think I can woo them into letting us use the DDE card for the entire thing! At the beginning of the meal, the CM does not know what a pleasure we are...LOL!

We did the HBD, the food was great, but we could not use the DDE

They do not take the DDE, but if you are a DVC member you can get a DVC discount by showing your membership card. Food only though, no alcohol. Honestly for us even without the discount this is a must do for our family.

Personally I would forget the Fantasmic plan, eat when and where I wanted and use the DDE.
I have always thought the new FDP is over rated, unless you it is just a MUST do, or during peak seasons.

patsal-so, do you mean the HBD will take DVC membership for FDP? If so, we ARE renting points...and our keys say "DVC Member" so that is something to look into. I was not sure that HBD would take DVC membership for FDP...I thought only for a regular dinner, just like the DDE.

Luv2Roam-Believe me, I have considered just forgetting about it. BUT...we will be ther in Oct and it looks like it may be busy this year. I am torn, but this time I would rather be safe than sorry as my family has NEVER seen Fantasmic.
