I have a confession....

Ha Ha I am one of those people who really likes to wrap lol. And I do the same thing your mom does!! :)
Good, you can come wrap mine!! :rotfl: ;)

I must confess I am really really a sicko because I absolutely LOVE wrapping gifts. Bags and tissue is not nearly as exciting. My mother is a really neat perfectionist wrapper and taught me well. I so look forward to wrapping. Its a sickness.

There needs to be a law: ALL ITEMS SOLD AS CHRISTMAS PRESENTS MUST COME IN A SQUARE OR RECTANGULAR BOX!

I hate wrapping too but I'm ok if it's square or rectangular, anything odd shaped and it looks like a 2 year old did it. Why oh why do retailers think weird shaped packaging is appealing?

Oh gosh - I used to be like your mom.. And for a few years I was on this kick where everything went in a box, was wrapped with red or green tissue paper, then two sheets of white tissue over that.. I then proceeded to use Christmas stencils and markers to make these elaborate Christmas scenes on each and every package.. The recipients were afraid to open them because I had put so much work into each one.. (And we're talking a LOT of presents here, not just a few..)

Now? I wrap as fast as I can.. Stick it in a holiday bag with tissue if possible.. Only use a box if absolutely necessary.. I've even used "Post-it Notes" with Christmas stickers for gift tags.. It's horrible what I've become.. How I ever let myself sink so low, I'll never understand............ :rotfl:

oh C.Ann!!

Im so glad you saw the light :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

OK so how many of you end up cutting a huge excess off the corners? It isnt pretty but hey it looks better than folding that extra 2 feet under the bottom! LOL

Part of my problem is I have to wrap in the bedroom which means the floor or the bed. Not exactly the best surface to wrap.

i LOVE wrapping christmas presents too! :-D my grandmother and mother give me theirs to wrap as well, lol, so it obviously doesn't run in my family!

Me! Me! Pick me!! :rotfl: My mom would have a cow if she saw me wasting all of that paper, but as I said earlier, I've sunk into that deep, dark hole of rip it, tear it, stuff it, shove it, stick a Post-it-note on it world of "Christmas spirit"........... :rotfl2:

Is there some kind of medication for that?? :teeth:

I really suck at wrapping gifts. Some gifts I put in regular boxes, you know the kind stores send you when they ship stuff to you in the mail?

Well, I put SO's gifts in those and had her wrap them. She has no idea that some of those gifts were actually for her.

Okay now that is CLASSIC and Sneaky. I LOVE IT!!!!!
:teeth:

I don't like wrapping either. :guilty:

I'd like to second that law, if you don't mind? :rotfl:

I bribed DH to wrap the presents this year. We have so many irregularly shaped items, whatever couldn't fit into a box got wrapped in the shipping box it came in. But overall, I couldn't bring myself to wrestle with the wrapping paper! And bows? My cat loves to tear the bows off presents, so we had to glue them on this year--so far, so good. He's either leaving them alone or can't get them off the presents! :rotfl2:

I find the bags more stressful than wrapping too - that darn tissue paper! DH and I always have a wrapping party one night. Doing it together seems to help- I actually look forward to it. Presents for home don't get bows or ribbons, only ones that are being delivered elsewhere.

My biggest issue with wrapping is the cost. I'm very cheap and it seems like such a waste. The Dollar Store is my new favorite place for wrapping supplies.

I like to wrap, but I am not very good at it. I do take advantages of stores like Von Maur and Parisian that have free gift wrapping services. They always do a beautiful job, so about 1/3 of my gifts look gorgeous. The others are wrapped decently, but with no extra bows or anything.

I'm in that same boat. I really don't like wrapping gifts. Thanks goodness, my DS and DH don't mind, so they usually do it all....and they're very good at it!

I hate wrapping gifts. If it is a pretty decent size rectangular box then my wrapping doesn't turn out too bad. I always have that 2 ft of paper left over too...whoops! I can't measure right, I can't cut a straight line even if you had a gun to my head, and I can't tape right either. My presents don't know what bows are! And the present only get a tag if I have the self sticking kind.

I can't do gift bags either. The tissue paper always looks like my cat did it.

I'm spastic, I admit it.

well I sunk to a new low this year. I bought DS a Robosapien, they are in a TRIANGLE shaped box whats up with THAT???

I found a huge giftbag at the dollar store, I put it in that, stuffed it with those "air bag" things that they ship gifts in and then stapled the bag shut all along the top! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Good luck with that there sonny boy ;)

I love to wrap presents, my whole family does, and it honestly never occurred to me that other people didn't, until last weekend.

I belong to a service club and we raised money for one of our projects by gift wrapping at Barnes & Noble - the store allows non-profit groups to giftwrap for tips.

We made $97 in two hours! We even had people ask if we would wrap their non-Barnes & Noble purchases, on the side! So yeah, I guess people really do hate to wrap.

Another thing my family likes to do is wrap the present as sneakily or as securely as possible. For example, one year I gave my brother a belt, buckled around a big cardboard circle - he was sure it was a pizza pan. And in turn he gave me a DVD beautifully wrapped on the outside, but secured in a box sealed with duct tape on the inside. Took me half an hour to get it out!

But we are a weird bunch.

Oh, put me on the list. I only wrap "special" presents, the rest go in gift bags. I also save the gift bags to reuse year after year :teeth: Oh, and just a side note about the cats..they WILL unwrap your presents. My DD's cats last year played all around the tree and scratched up the gifts until they were being unwrapped. I tried eveything to keep them away from the tree, but to no avail. A little rip here and big rip there..DD actually rewrapped one of her own gifts :rotfl2:

I didn't mind wrapping gifts until a few years ago. I can not stand wrapping gifts anymore. It could be since I have remarried there has been more gifts to wrap now. DH won't even help me. He says he is a bad wrapper, poor excuse. I had to wrap everything this past weekend since my oldest DD is going to be home with me on the weekends until Christmas so I had to do it all last weekend. Just have a few presents left to wrap here at work. Glad I have paper left over from last year.

Most of you would have died this weekend ! I run a non-profit organisation that sends chrismas gifts to all the people living with HIV/AISD and that are in some hospices across Canada : last weekend , we wrapped 2000 gifts (with the help of 140 volonteers !)
