OK, gulp....here goes.....

i HATE my mickey ice cube trays!!!!!

They are soooooo hard to get out in one piece, they are so hard to get out at all!!!!

Am i missing something? am i the only one? :confused3 is there some trick i am not special enough to know about yet? (i still am only earning my ears after all) or did i not bring home enough pixie dust from my trip? :wizard:

wow, just had to get that out, my DH grumbles at the trays everyday, but i cant let him know they annoy me too or he will trash them. and i just dont think i could live without seeing mickey in my trays anymore. LOL

You can also try running the bottom of the tray under luke warm water before trying to pop them out. Good luck! :)

Spray trays with PAM before filling for nonsticking ice cubes :)

I really think it is a great idea, but I can't get the picture of my DS saying mom, my water is greasy" (he is that picky) out of my head!. :rotfl2:

Hey, I have a question for you. Are these trays the red flexable trays that you can get at EPCOT?

Well if they are I will tell you what I told my MIL

Bless her heart.... On our last trip to Disney she bought the red flexable mickey trays and we did not know it. We got home and she pulled one out of the fridge. She went to dump the "ice" into a ice container and they cracked. She tried again and got so mad..LOL :rotfl: She honestly did not know what was wrong. My hubby and myself were rolling in the floor :rotfl: We finally decided that we would tell her the bad news..(after we got the laughs out of our system) We told her those ICETRAYS were jello shooter trays. She of course did not know what that was and we explained to her what they were used for. She then started laughing at herself and threw them in the trash..

Anyway, if you actually have icetrays I would follow the above posters advice. But, I just had to share this funny story.. :goodvibes

Really? I didn't know that! We have had ours for 4 years and I could have sworn they were ice cube trays. No wonder they are so difficult to work with. OK, you can all laugh at me now. I am :rotfl2:

Mine drove me crazy as well. I rarely got them out in one piece and then they were so small that they melted almost immediately. I think I threw them away.

I ended up with a large mickey head that I think is supposed to be a jello mold. I make ice in it for punch bowls and such.

We bought a bunch of the reusable ice Mickey heads .Our Ice maker never worked right it would for a while then break again just got to be a pain so we thought we would try these out and they are great.

I'm so glad i'm not the only one with this problem...always get so sad when their little ears fall off.....as for Jello Shooters...lol...havent done that since college...guess its time to give it a try :thumbsup2

I thought the same thing, but found the idea on Pam's website. I don't have the Mickey trays, nor do I have trouble with ice--just thought I'd pass along what I found in case OP wanted to try that. :)

I have them (never heard of using them for Jello shots, either) and found the best way to get the rotten little things out is to turn the tray upside down and press directly on the center of each head. I've done my share of swearing at them, but love having that little bit of WDW whenever I have a cold drink.

My Mickey ice cube tray frustrates me, too. I am going to try running the back of the tray under lukewarm water to see if that'll make a difference in getting the cubes out easily and in 1 piece.

I thought about using a non-stick spray, but like someone else posted I don't want to risk having a greasy drink.

I tossed mine two weeks after I bought them. I tried spraying and every other trick to no avail. Those things are junk! They are not jello shooter trays though. I've never seen those.

I bought some on my last trip as well. I rarely use them because I can't get them out without breaking them. As far as being for Jello - the tags said ice cube tray but maybe they'll work better for Jello.

LOL....OMG..... YES they are the red flexi ones......jello shots hmmmmmm

he picked them up and got them. said he thought i would like them, i didnt even read the package.

That is too funny. I dont want a greasy drink, nor do i want to live without my mickey ice so i will give the pam a try.

i try to hit the bottom, and for every one piece i can catch to get in the cup, 2 fly across the kitchen. I wish i had space in the freezer for a bowl or something so we could freeze them, pop them into the bowl and just fill the tray again.

Hmmmmmm jello shots, who knew disney could be so naughty! :stir:

Thanks for letting me know its just not me!

Ya know, you can just put plain jello in them, that's what I do. The ice cube thing never worked for me either!

tmt martins: where did you get the reusable Mickey head ice cubes?? They sound cool...get it,...COOL :rotfl2:
I'm sorry it's my Birthday and I'm feeling a little silly

I have " blue" ice trays that I bought at WDW a few years ago. They are not flexible and they do not release the ice either. I do not want to spray with pam (greasy ice drink - yuck) ! I have to pound the ice out upside down, run under water and still have broken Mickey heads. I hate using them, too !

I thought I was the only one!!!

I have the blue ice cube trays and have seen many broken Mickey's! I can't throw them away, but I have 'stored' them for my 'golden years' when I'll hopefully have more patience, lol!
